Resilience From the Heart: Gregg Braden
Gregg Braden: It’s a new release of a revised version of the 2014 book. The Turning Point was written to a broad general audience to address what I saw as a need that was not being fulfilled in our life today. The world is changing and I think we all know that. It’s changing in big ways and the best minds of our time are telling us that we’re living in a time of extremes. These extremes not necessarily only mean bad things are happening or even good things for that matter, but what they are telling us is that big changes in the world are happening and that means big changes in our lives.
What I found in my audiences is that people wanted to know how to embrace this change in a healthy way and so the Turning Point was originally written to address those questions and it was written from two different perspectives – From the level of personal resilience in our every day lives but it was also written from a perspective of community resilience. I wanted to address aspects of resilience that is required in our time of extremes, both on a personal level and on a community level.
So I began touring with that book and almost immediately, I noticed something in my European audiences. People told me in very clear terms that they wanted to get to the experiential parts of the work immediately. They were interested in the context and the change but they wanted as quickly as possible to get to the techniques and the strategies and the direct experience that would help them in their lives.
So the book is written with that experience in mind. There’s a brand new chapter in the beginning with information that I’ve wanted to share with our audiences for a long time. So the book has been rearranged and there are new exercises, actual instructions and templates right in the beginning of the book. It’s all about the experience of the heart – the heart-based resilience that our ancestors always told us, that would carry us through times of change and now modern science is doing precisely the same thing. It’s all about the resilience that we now know, begins in the human heart and it is all based upon a series of new discoveries regarding the heart which have caught the scientists and the medical community by surprise.
