Also, many readers now study astrology, so I couldn’t exactly hide those tough aspects, even if I wanted to do so! (I am laughing—it’s true!) Sometimes I will write, “It gives me no pleasure to have to report this to you, dear Libra (or whatever sign I am addressing) and I even considered not telling you about this aspect at all. I am your friend, so, as your friend, I will always try to push you out of the way if I see an out-of-control truck heading straight toward you.” I won’t just report on challenging aspects, but also show my readers how to best handle them. I believe I cannot just lead a reader into the brier patch and not find the garden key to helping them find the way out.

I have faced some incredibly difficult challenges in life—I was paralyzed during an operation to save my life at age 14, and I spent 11 months in the hospital to recover. I spent two additional years of intense physical therapy at the hospital, as an outpatient, six hours a day on weekdays. As a result, I could not attend high school, but was home schooled. Today I walk perfectly without crutches. Friends think I made that period of my life up because I walk so well.

Throughout my life, I have had a total of 40 blood transfusions during harrowing surgeries, and I am eternally grateful to those kind strangers who gave me healthy blood. I will never know those kind person’s names. I thank then today for giving me the gift of life.

This is only a broad sketch—there have been other challenges, financial, emotional, physical challenges, and oddly, all were outside my control. My point is, no one gets through life without having their little boat bash over the rocks at some point in time, no later than age 42. Most of the life’s challenges are not as terrible as we initially suppose—we learn to find strength and resourcefulness inside to outsmart those difficult challenges, including the ones that seem insurmountable. From every experience, we become stronger and more resilient.
