Here is a wonderful fact about astrology: No one, in time or space, in the history of the world, will ever have your natal horoscope. Your natal chart is unique to you due to the various and widely differing orbits of the planets, Sun, and the moon. Even twins will have different charts, due to the powerful emphasis on tiny mathematical degrees of each of the elements and rising sign in the chart. This all means that you are unique in this world and that you must sing the song in your heart. Do not let anyone convince you to be anything other than the real “you” inside, for you were born as a little baby perfect, whole, and completely unique.
OMTIMES: You have millions of devoted followers; how do you make them all feel special?
Susan Miller: I love my readers, and I hope they sense that I do! This is why I love to meet and greet them at various events. I enjoy hearing what is on their minds, and often think about particular challenges I hear about from a reader at those appearances. Actually, the readers make ME feel special in their enthusiasm to read each month’s reports, and I am so grateful for them!
OMTIMES: There is so much intensity happening all over the world and we are now more digitally connected than ever before. What is it like for you, being a very digitally connected astrologer today?
Susan Miller: The Internet has brought astrology’s reach much further than has ever been possible. Back in 2,500 BC in Mesopotamia, in Babylonia, when astrology was first born, astrology was the province of the king. For only the king could afford to hire the services of the professor of mathematics in the nearby university to set up a chart. The king wisely wanted to do some “what if’s?” so that he could prepare to protect the citizens under his domain. Now anyone can read an astrological article or find an astrologer to read his or her chart. Look at the astrologer’s writings and education and see if they are accredited by one of the four major astrological societies in America. (The International Society of Astrologic Research authorized me. There is also the American Federation of Astrologers, and the National Council for Geo-Cosmic Research.)
When Apple came to me to invite me to code for the Apple Watch I was so excited! I immediately asked Phunware to send three engineers to Cupertino to “Apple School” to learn how to get my daily forecast on the Watch, at no extra cost to the user of my app. How exciting is that? Who would have ever thought this is possible?
Back in Islam, when the decimal point was developed, everyone assumed astrology would die. Instead, it got stronger and more precise. I feel the digital age will do the same for astrology now—make it more accessible and more accurate for many people who learn how to harness it. Astrology is not about predestination, but rather about using the influences we find coming up to our advantage, to be more productive and happy.
OMTIMES: Your site, AstrologyZone, is recently celebrated 20 years on the web, with you at the helm for all these years doing all of the work. How do you manage your time?
Susan Miller: I wake up every morning knowing what I have to accomplish by the end of the day. Sometimes life intervenes, and that’s frustrating, but I am flexible, and start out again the following day. I also have to balance the running of the business, that is, being sure people like my weekly bookkeeper and daily office manager is paid. I also have a host of researchers, designers, IT, editors, fact checkers, an accountant, and so forth to pay. I call the bank every morning to see what checks have cleared and if one is taking too long, I will call the person to see if the check was received or lost. I have to work on taxes with my accountant, and many other tasks that are necessary for running a business. As they say, however, “change is as good as a rest.” I focus on those items early in the day and after that, keep writing until I fall asleep at the computer at days’ end.
