OMTIMES: Why do you say that God played such a vital role in your career?
Braxton Cosby: He has been everything to me. My choice of becoming a Physical Therapist and even this career path to becoming an author is totally His. Without the inspiration, I would never have been given the courage to even try something so daunting.
OMTIMES: How has Mr. Bill Cosby, been important in your life? What have you learned from him?
Braxton Cosby: I’ve learned how to carve out your own identity in this world. You have marvelous opportunities to do great things in life; every day that you wake up is an offering to make the choice to be bold, daring and different. His example of hard work paying off is indeed an excellent testimony, but more than all that is his commitment to being whom he is no matter how the industry changes or evolves. He is still Bill Cosby.
OMTIMES: Why preaching the importance of health and fitness is so empowering to you?
Braxton Cosby: It’s something that is near and dear to me because of the field I work in. Being a Physical Therapist in the Geriatric population affords me the chance to see people after they’ve lived their lives. To see the effect of what years of living have on a person. Some are good, but the majority is bad. People have high cholesterol from not monitoring their diets correctly. Then come the co-morbidities and disease of excess weight. That’s when a person’s life gets really complicated and you end of treating something that was never the original issue in the first place. I have the heart to help people at the place where they need it the most; making the decision of what to eat and how much to eat. That’s why I ran multiple Boot Camps here in Atlanta and helped people lose hundreds of pounds of weight. If people are educated on the effects of certain foods and the impact of overeating, then they can make the informative choices for themselves. It starts with education.
