OMTIMES: And you also just released a new show, One World Yogis. This show features one-on-one yoga lessons with you and the viewer. It will reach people all over the world, how did you come up with that idea?

Eddie Stern: The idea of One World Yogis was Deepak and Martine Dubin’s. Martine Dubin is a good friend who runs the digital broadcast network HEALTHWIRE.FM and NEWSWIRE.FM with viewers in over 200 countries. She is the Executive Director for some inspirational and thought-provoking shows, it was a natural fit to work with her.

Deepak and I had done a series with his son Gotham called Urban Yogis (now available on Martine Dubin’s platform). When Deepak and Martine Dubin’s One World series started taking off, Eddie Stern_One World Yogis _omtimesDeepak thought it would be a good idea to add yoga into the mix, and so he asked me if I would be interested in doing it. We discussed the idea of linking recent scientific findings that have been discovered via studies yoga, breathing and meditation into the show for general education.

OMTIMES: Who did you work with to create One World Yogis? Where did you shoot the show?

Eddie Stern: Martine Dubin’s Healthwire.fm team did all of the filming and editing. Moby, who is an old friend from my teenage years, did the music, and Paulette Cole of ABC Carpets let us use her space on the second floor to film it, at the ‘Deepak HomeBase.’

OMTIMES: What would you say to people who are just beginning in their yoga practice, watching this show?

Eddie Stern: I would say take it slow, and do one video at a time until you feel comfortable with the practices that are taught at each level. For some people that might be one week or one month, and for others, it might just be a few days. Yoga, which is what we would call a spiritual practice, is essentially a practice of listening: listening to your breath, your body, your energy level, your needs, and most importantly, your inner being. Listening to all of these parts of ourselves is in essence asking the question, who is listening? So keep that in mind as you practice, and that sort of paying attention is really a type of listening.
