David Arquette: SOLD
Exclusive Interview with David Arquette
Christopher Buck: David, thank you so much for speaking with us today.
David Arquette: Of course. Thanks for covering this important movie.
Christopher Buck: It’s very exciting for us to help promote the movie Sold. Briefly, I’ll explain why and then we’ll get on to the interview. My wife Liane and I started a 501(c)(3) public charity called Humanity Healing International some years ago, and we also work against human trafficking or one of the facets of human trafficking. Our primary project is based in Uganda where we rescue albino children from traffickers who would sell them for Human sacrifice.
David Arquette: Wow. That’s so intense. Thank you for the work you do.
Christopher Buck: It’s difficult to work. Human trafficking is a very ugly facet of humanity. We have such respect for you for making this an issue and to raise awareness.
David Arquette: Thank you. I’m honored to be a part of it.
Christopher Buck: It’s one of the things that we know, you’re on the top of the wave of celebrities out there today who are trying to create a positive social impact in the world. Was there a particular incidence or awakening in your life that made you realize, how important this was, to use your influence to raise awareness of these causes?
David Arquette: Well, my mother was always, you know, a champion of sort of good causes. She marched with Martin Luther King in Chicago. She took us to no nukes demonstrations as kids. So, it’s always been something that’s been sort of in our blood. And then, becoming a celebrity, it’s just–the only real, you know, important part of being a celebrity is that you can raise awareness for causes that might not have a voice otherwise.
Christopher Buck: Well, that is true, that is very commendable. And as I said, we have such respect for you and for the work that you’ve been doing in this. How did you get connected to the movie Sold?
David Arquette: I worked with Jeffrey Brown, the director, on a film called Dream with the Fishes that he was a writer and producer on. He’s just such a wonderful guy. It’s one of my favorite movies that I’d had a part in.
So, I got to know him, and then he called me up and told me he was doing this. And, you know, I don’t have a huge role in the film, but it’s more just to help him raise awareness and to be a part of it and get this sort of train going. And, you know, he got a lot of support from other people and then it started taking off.
Christopher Buck is the co-founder of Humanity Healing in 2007, which rippled out into the 501c3 public charity, Humanity Healing International, and its subsidiary, OMTimes Media.
