David Arquette: SOLD
David Arquette: Absolutely. It was the first scene I’d shot. I flew directly from Detroit after doing another film and I hadn’t slept. So, I went I was, like, in this dream going to the set. And then, that’s the first scene I had to shoot. Jeffrey Brown is really so caring and so thoughtful that he had a girl that was older, you know, in her 20s, that was small that could be a double for her. So, a lot of the stuff I got to do with the double, so it wasn’t as, you know, it wouldn’t be as sort of jarring for the actors. But, there was a couple of little shots that I had to be next to her, but, he did it in such a kind way. And I think having a child made it just sort of a little easier just to say, to calm her down even though she didn’t speak that great English, just to calm her down and sort of making a joke and just keep it sort of light. And then, when you have to shoot it–we just shot it a couple times and it wasn’t that sort of heavy. And I kept saying, “Are you okay,” and stuff like that, and just making sure she felt safe.
Christopher Buck: Wow, as I said, it was both an incredibly touching story and a profoundly disturbing story. We had a wonderful interview with Jeffrey Brown. He’s quite a remarkable human being. What do you think we as a society need to do or focus on to eradicate human trafficking, from a personal standpoint?
David Arquette: I think awareness is a huge factor. And, you know, I’m not a big fan of secrets, so I like things being out in the open. I like people talking about them. I think, sort of through, as silly as it sounds, like, through Oprah and through a lot of self-help stuff in the ’80s, people finally started talking about abuse and, you know, different things like that. And I think it’s really led to a conversation where we talk about it more, we have, you know, government, law enforcement agencies directly going after these people and really sort of pulling the sort of veil back so that you can see what’s going on. And I think the more we talk about it, the more we confront it, the more we figure out how they do it and how we can stop the practice of it is just going to be sort of the future of eliminating it.
