A Numerology Tribute to the Legendary Prince
by Greer Jonas
We Look with Numerology to Glimpse Greatness
The world mourns the passing of the legendary Prince—the singer, producer, musician, actor, and androgynous icon who created himself again and again. He was beautiful inside and out. His diversity went beyond his music as he wrote, played all the instruments, and sang the vocals to most of his recorded songs.
He was a man with many names and many versions of himself. We will miss him.
Born on June 7, 1958 as Prince Rogers Nelson, he shortened his name to “Prince” as his stardom began in the late seventies. Let’s take a look at Prince’s numerology chart below.
The Destiny, or Life Purpose is the sum of the numbers in your birthday.
Prince’s destiny was a 9. (6+7+1+9+5+8=36. 3+6=9) The life purpose of the 9 is the spiritual warrior, to look at the bigger purpose of everything. Nine is all about transformation and change. Prince’s inspirational voice, songs, and performance transformed music as much as he transformed himself.
Prince’s two names describe two different men.
Prince Rogers Nelson
The name, Prince Rogers Nelson, shows the numerological value of a 9 soul’s essence. In numerology, 9 describes an inner thinking spiritual being, soul-searching the meaning of life and transformation. The 1 Value system and expression number describes a unique and inspiring leader in his genre. Prince actually created his own musical genre, the likes we had never seen before.
Prince
Becoming “Prince” gave the performer a new energy to entertain and be out there in front of crowds of people. I noticed in some of the interviews, he almost seems shy. But as Prince, on stage, his 5 soul’s essence (the charismatic and sexy entertainer) 6 value (endearing) and master 11 expression (master innovator and leader in multiple styles of music) commanded his audience.
About Changing His Name to a Symbol
In 2002, he changed his name to a symbol. This was to represent part female (yin) and part male (yang). The world and the media went crazy with this and needed to call him something, so they called him: “The artist formerly known as Prince.” There is much debate about this, one is that he made the change because of his anger with his record label, Warner Brothers. Prince denied this and said “I am not a name.” (How “9” of him:)
I think, in a way, Prince laughed at the world. He teased and engaged us with his performances. He made us hot (as in Kiss) and moved us emotionally (as in Purple Rain). His goal was to inspire us and make us think from a zero place, that place of the unknown—beyond what is, beyond what was, showing us limitless potential.
This brilliant, talented and unique musical icon that did not need a name, but was called Prince, will not be forgotten.
