Hermit Crabs: Shell We Move?
Hermit Crabs: Shell We Move?
Upgrading shells is critical to hermit crabs as they grow. And in any hot real estate market, the competition is fierce for the best properties. Check out the incredible choreography of move in day as several crabs simultaneously make big upgrades.
“Shell We Move?” is a collaborative project between SUUMO and Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, the specialist of oceanography, to encourage hermit crabs to move.
Hermit crabs are famous for being the “masters of living,” who keep seeking the comfortable houses throughout their entire lives.
However, they are not fully satisfied with their living environment due to the lack of seashells that comes from environmental changes.
This is SUUMO’s new trial to provide with such hermit crabs the “new comfortable houses.”
*The shoot of concave land hermit crab was properly done with the help of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology upon consideration of ecology.
