Jeffrey Dean Brown: Oh, good Lord.

Christopher Buck: We believe that human trafficking is such a huge issue. It’s a hydra, with many faces.

Jeffrey Dean Brown: Hydra is a good name for it, it really is, because, I mean, when you talk about albino body parts, you know, it’s like, good Lord, you know, there’s so many faces to this as far as crime. The victims are so young. So often, they’re kids.

Christopher Buck: You know, kudos to you with what you’re doing, it’s a passion of ours to try and help, and so we’re so honored to be able to help, raise awareness.

Jane Charles: Thanks so much.

Christopher Buck: And truly, trafficking of other humans is such an ugly facet of humanity that it’s often hard to bring it to people’s attention, which is why things like your film are so important.

Jane Charles: Awareness first.

Christopher Buck: It’s an amazing film, but it definitely, because of the subject, it haunts you afterward.

Jeffrey Dean Brown: It haunts a lot of people. There are people that we’ve shown it to that have seen it six, seven, eight times. We have a friend who’s about to climb Everest Base Camp with four survivors of human trafficking in the US and four from Nepal. She was a mountain climber, and she always wanted to do something to help kids who had been molested because she had been molested as a young girl. And after she saw our film, she just got really inspired. She’s making a film about her efforts. Her film will be the next wave, and that’s just how it happens. And she’s bringing iRest to the kids and the survivors in Nepal. In the US, we’re spreading that out because it’s an ancient form of Yoga Nidra, Richard Miller of the iRest Institute create a trauma-informed version, and it’s being extensively used by the VA, the American Veteran’s Administration. And they call the project “Warriors at Ease”. So, they’re using it to heal PTSD. The amazing thing about iRest is, it starts working right away. It starts rewiring the brain right away. People can stabilize from PTSD within a number of months. It can be used whenever you need it because you can have an audio recording of it, it can be done in dyads, two people or one person with a group. But, the really wonderful thing about it besides the facts that it works so effectively is that it can be scaled really rapidly with the survivors of human trafficking themselves being trained as teachers just like in the VA there are almost 500 veterans now who are teaching iRest, and there are certified veterans. What better way to have trust than between someone who has survived and gone through that experience, you know, whether it’s sex trafficking or war? That’s the best way to create a healing environment because you trust the person that’s giving you the information because they have gone through their own healing process, they can model it. Also, you trust them because they share the same experience that you’ve been through.
