Clearing Energy of Used Items

In a world full of consignment shops, antique shops, and thrift shops, rarely do we focus on clearing energy that the used items carry. When it comes to a great bargain, we often find ourselves more fixated on the sale rather than the energy that the used item carries. However, that same energy can have an impact on a person’s life or space. It is important to remember that used items carry the previous owner’s energy imprint. Regardless of the time that has transpired since an item was sold, energy is still programmed into to it. In some cases, the energies within an object can initiate a haunting of the person or space where it will be placed.
Can Clearing Energy Help Highly Sensitive Persons?
Psychometry, a modality used for tuning into an object and acquiring information – such as who it belonged to, years connected, and whether it carries positive or negative energy – can help us decide whether we should purchase an item or avoid it all together. This technique can be developed over time using our intuitive abilities and some find it easier, especially if they are a highly sensitive person (HSP).
It’s a good idea to physically touch the item by holding it in our hands and tuning into our feelings. Ask yourself how does the object make you feel? If we immediately feel sick or are affected physically, it is possible the energy in this item needs clearing. If we are at an antique shop we might also want to ask the shop owner for any background information on the item, like who this belonged to previously, what they know about it, etc. The more information we have readily available can help determine whether the item is good for us.
There are many techniques for clearing energy, such as smudging. We can also use sea salt or regular salt and sprinkle it over an item to purify its energy. We can surround the used item with white light or utilize Reiki modalities. Regardless of the technique used to clear the energy, it is important to always use prayers. The power of prayer has impact because it is our communication and intentions being sent into the universe that help manifest good vibrations. When praying to the archangels and ascended masters, ask specifically for their intercession in helping to remove any previous energy.
Do Used Items & Old Objects Harbor Spiritual Residue?
If we feel the energy in an object is causing a haunting in our house or space we may need to call in a medium or paranormal investigative team to help us assess whether the potential haunting is tied to the object or if this is something else. In many cases the item is either blessed or removed from the immediate space. Activity will cease and we will notice our space is back to normal.
When gifting someone one of our personal items, it is recommended to use the techniques mentioned above to clear our energy before releasing our belongings.
Living our daily lives by feeling thankful and blessed allows us to vibrate at a higher level. Since our energy cannot be destroyed only converted, let that clearing energy be a positive force full of love and light.
