Yes, You Are A Star
“Baby, I’m a star …I don’t want to stop ‘till I reach the top.”
by Debbie Peluso
Lyrics written by a most talented and magnetic being the world recently lost. The tributes that poured forth for Prince all around the world, from all walks of life, have been enormous. Whether in the field of music, arts, politics, journalism, law, corporate, and the public at large, everyone mourned and told stories of how Prince influenced their lives. Why? What was it about this magnanimous person that made us all smile, intensely feel, and dance?
Allow Your Star To Shine
Each one of us is born with our own “star” through which source, higher consciousness, God — by whatever title you wish to use — wants to express itself. For some, it is possessing leadership qualities and personal charisma reflecting major influences on others, be it politics or arts. For others, it is providing healing either through the healthcare system or the healing arts. Still others are the teachers of the world who either teach us academics or share their knowledge of higher consciousness enabling us to be our own healers or heal others.
Whatever our calling, we are placed here to share it with others. On this earthly plane, we are all teachers and students. It is the one consciousness that wishes to express every part of itself creatively through each and every one of us by giving us particular talents. No matter how big or small we may believe our talents to be or how we may compare our abilities to others or how creative or uncreative we think ourselves, we are all expressions of the one, and everything we do is of value and worth and contributes to spreading knowledge of some form. It is our own “star” contained within.
So where is it that we get “stuck?” Why are some able to shine while others delve into a pit of devaluing themselves, losing their sense of self-worth and confidence? One could say it is the attachments we begin to form to our illusions created through our various life experiences. Of course, no one invalidates our experiences, good or bad. In our humanness we experience emotions, traumas, joys, pain and suffering. That is what makes us human. But it would serve us well to remember the words of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin: “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” –What does that even mean?
How do we maintain our spirituality while living our human experiences?
In the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, there is the Sphere of Tiferet (Beauty). It is located in the middle of the tree and leads us from higher consciousness (the super all and ethical triads) into the astral triad where we become the individuated expression of the one. Here is contained our heart, our creativity, our sun, our Christ consciousness that keeps us connected to higher self. Herein lies the balancing of who we are as spiritual beings and who we are meant to be in our physicality. One could compare this to our Star of Sothis wishing to pour abundance upon us by keeping us connected to our higher guide.
Directly beneath Tiferet lies Yesod (the foundation). The tree tells us this is our subconscious. It is the underworld, a cave where we hide. Here we deposit all of our experiences, memories, hurts, traumas. In other words….our illusions of what we perceive the impact of our experiences to be, the attachment to the emotions involved. This does not mean it is not real to us, but it is these illusions that keep us bound, stuck and unable to clearly see the sphere of beauty shining above us. Yesod is also our drive and purpose wishing to deposit our soul’s intent into the world, so long as we don’t get stuck in the illusion.
Think of an eclipse of the Sun. The Moon (which rules Yesod) blocks the light of the sun from shining upon earth. And so it is with us…..if we stay stuck in the darkness of Yesod (our subconscious and emotions associated with our experiences) we block the light of our sun, our connection to our higher elf, guidance and talents through which we receive the universal flow of abundance.
How Can We Help Our Star to Shine?
How do we move the moon out of the way and allow our star to shine? Sitting in meditation and contemplation, connecting to our human experiences and asking ourselves; how can I transform these intense emotions into a positive, creative expression? Surrender….surrender your attachments and allow the sacred flow of life to unfold. This allows us not only healing, but to use our experiences, positive or negative, as a driving, inspirational force to express our God-given talents allowing for abundance.
Prince did just that…used his intense experiences to bring us music. So yes…baby, YOU are a star…don’t stop until you reach the top!
