Present Pain Does Not Limit Future Joy
We Have a Focus on Future Joy
Sometimes we have days, weeks, or even years where it feels like life just isn’t working out. We’ve all been there, struggling; trying to piece together what seems like broken and mismatched pieces, and feeling hopeless every second of the way. How do we expect to feel calm when life has fallen apart around us? Is it even possible?
There are ways we can journey into this peace. The first, and most powerful way, is to let go of the belief that what is happening right now will dictate our entire future.
The Reality and Reach of Our Present Pain
Certainly, the current moment can impact and change our future course, but the present pain and stress we are experiencing right now is not permanent. It does not mean we will be stressed forever, or stuck in this particular situation for ever. For instance, perhaps less money came in this week and this is concerning. We might feel as though we’ll never save up enough to live comfortably. But, in truth, all the situation means is that we cannot save up this week. Next week may be different, or perhaps next year. Although we may not be able to predict the positive shift, it will come.
Hearing this message, especially in times of strife, may not make a huge impact until we remember to do this: Think back to a time where things were just a stressful as they are now, but far enough in the past that the situation is no longer existing, and reflect on how similar that felt to the present state. Now recall how life mysteriously turned around and that situation was resolved. We made it to a more joyous place, right?
Realizing Future Joy Despite the Present Pain
Joy is possible! Certainly it may call on our last reserves of resilience in the moment, but we have always triumphed in our past. This situation of present pain is no different.
To free ourselves from some of this present pain, we need to remember that this current situation is impermanent. It will pass and we can once again acquaint ourselves with our limitless future, one filled with infinite possibilities for future joy. We cannot experience joy when we think the future will only carry more hurt, so by believing that our present stressor will never get better-we are cutting joy out of our lives. Right now, things may not be as we wish, but our power to shape the future will reawaken once we recognize that the future can change.
Stake Your Claim for Future Joy
Our current stressor is not eternal and it does not solidify our future into one single painful path. The only thing that lasts forever is our strength to change where we are going and journey inwards towards our love, joy, and peace. Through this, our future opens up as the ever-expansive creation it is.
We are resilient and adaptable beings, very capable of finding our saving grace along the way. When we’re feeling overwhelmed, let’s all remind ourselves that our current stress doesn’t mean we’ll be stressed forever. It just means we’re stressed right now, and that’s okay. Let’s take those forward steps when we can, and we’ll constantly be moving towards a new and limitless future.
