Starting a Journey To Personal Freedom

Although personal freedom is defined differently for everyone, one common piece could open us to a world, unlike anything we have experienced before. Allowing freedom to heal and serve us for our greatest good. Is personal freedom our fourth dimension?

Achieving Personal Freedom

by Leigh BurtonOMTimes Digital eZinePersonal freedom is something that we all want more of, regardless of how it is individually defined. Even though we all have had the feeling of being connected and on top of the world from time to time, we miss it when we are detached. The day to day tasks and challenges quickly pull us into the world that we call our own, and it is there that overwhelm sets in. In that space of freedom, we feel a great deal of control elegantly mixed with a humble experience of surrender. There is no greater feeling of personal power than that which gives us peace and the knowledge that everything in that moment is just as it should be. No matter the challenges and the long list of things to keep up with.

Personal freedom can be defined differently by each of us, but the common thread that knits together a communal understanding that requires no exchange of words is choice. However different our existence is from others, we all have an equal opportunity to embrace the moments that will refresh our minds of what great peace can be had just by allowing awareness. But, when life throws more than we can handle, good or bad, we too easily get lost and crave the freedom we justify being taken from us. When we feel that something so wonderful is missing, it’s assumed taken because the only alternative is owning the discard. Indeed, the suffering, however minute, has to be because of a source outside of ourselves. It’s easier that way.

If freedom is what we seek; if it is what we chase through everything we do, then why do we use our everyday life as an excuse for that freedom to have to be chased at all? Why can’t we simply allow both the grind of living and the serenity that is so dear to our spirit exist in the same place? If all is one and not separate from anything else, then this too should be.

It is perfectly human to be so busy that we lose track of what it is that we are busy for. To thrive, achieve and receive what we need and desire doesn’t require a constant motion of activity that we only believe will take us where we want to go. It takes an understanding of what we value. The value can show up in many forms that don’t require our identity to be defined by something external to our most authentic self. It can present itself in a simple gesture that was given enough attention to notice. It can be in the way that the wind blows through the leaves of a tree merely for the decision to look up instead of ahead.

Imagine the ability to experience another dimension being added to our 3D life. A dimension that is strictly for the purpose of experiencing freedom. One that we can connect with at any time because it is a committed part of our being. This aspect of our existence is available for all of us. It only has one requirement; that we grant permission for it to live and bring to life a new perspective. While the dream of the planet is to see peace, freedom, and love for all, it needs to come from every morsel of our society to be successful.

Stress reduction that doesn’t require medication, the release of pain without intervention and hearts filled with gratitude just waiting for the next opportunity to give, and only because it feels so good. This is personal freedom, and it starts from inside. To be selfish enough to take as many mindful moments that one can find is probably one of the most selfless things we can do for each other. Maybe we will get lucky and realize that we can accomplish just as much and even more without missing out on what we value most.
