What Lurks Behind Your Mess and Clutter?
What lurks behind your mess and clutter?
Is There a Reason for Your Mess and Clutter?
It is said that several of the great geniuses were true masters of their mess. Einstein’s office, or Mark Twain’s, among others, were supposed to be a real nest of spiders. Objects on all sides, rolled up papers, accumulated garbage – anyway, a really messy and cluttered zone.
However, being disorganized does not necessarily convert anyone into a genius. Just as being overly organized also does not make someone a better person. To foster extremes are never good when it comes to our human reality, like Buddha said, the Balance in life resides in a middle way.
In today’s world, readily available time has become infrequent for many. It is no longer possible to clean floors leaving them as a mirror, nor to keep the four corners of the house sparkling shining. Having someone to do the housework is a luxury that just a few can afford and spending time in the house doing housework is not that easy now.
But, this does not mean that everything in our life and house must be turned upside down. It is possible to keep a basically tidy space, without the need to invest much time in it. It’s all about getting organized and adopting some new habits. But why do some people fail in doing such? What’s really lurking behind your compulsive mess?
The real meaning of the mess
In general, the untidiness in the spaces we inhabit is a sign of disorder in our inner world, and the inability to deal with specific emotional challenges. Staying saturated with objects means being saturated with unresolved ideas and projects. The mess sends a message of internal confusion, lack of structuring, and lack of definitions.
Also, Feng Shui scholars and similar practices ensure that the mess has different meanings depending on where it accumulates.
This is what they have to say about it:
The mess or the objects lodged in areas that are at the entrance of a house means a deep fear of relating to other people.
The mess or the objects heaped up in the kitchen or in the spaces where food is prepared means emotional fragility and resentment.
The mess or the stuff lodged in the lockers means difficulty in analyzing and controlling feelings and emotions.
The mess or objects heaped under the furniture indicates that the person is very dependent on the opinion of others and gives much importance to the appearances.
The mess or objects lurking behind the doors is an expression of the fear of being rejected by others and the conviction of feeling guarded.
Mess or cluttered objects in the office or workplace mean fear, frustration, and need for control over situations.
The mess or the objects lodged in the garage implies fear of new things and lack of ability to update their life perspectives.
The mess or the objects heaped in the hallways means fear of expressing yourself, of saying what you want directly.
The mess or the objects lodged in the room means fear of being rejected by society.
The mess or the objects huddled in the dining room has to do with feeling family-controlled and insecure.
The mess or the objects heaped all over the house means that we have repressed anger and that we feel apathetic and disinterested about life.
The advantages of overcoming the mess
It is not necessary that our space to become a sparkling prototype of a museum, in fact, worrying too much about the mess subtracts energy that we could invest in more important things, besides making us picky, depressed, and neurotic.
The vital thing is to be able to inhabit spaces that are pleasant and easy to handle, in one environment that allows a healthy flow of Chi energies, that brings Prosperity, Abundance and Friendships. Also, It is not reasonable to be searching for things that come out of the mess or to be depressed just by looking at the state of our workplace or our home.
One of the first causes of the mess is that you may not have sorted objects well, so many things do not have a definite place on where they should be. It is essential to analyze what types of objects we have at home or in the office, to form categories or groups of objects and to define where each group should be stored.
Office supplies should have their place, as should medicines, papers, books, notebooks, umbrellas, etc. You might have to create more than one place to store the same category of objects if there are many in numbers.
The next step is to work your mind to prepare to make room for new things. It is a lesson on letting go of feelings, you no longer need when you let go of objects you don’t use. If you keep things you no longer need or keep stuff by merely preserving them, it will be impossible to advance in your new projects and intentions. It is necessary to discard everything that is no longer necessary. What you did not use the previous year should be donated or discarded.
Convince yourself that cleaning your home is also to cleanse your mind, cleanse the environment, cleanse your life. Decide to move to a new level and get rid of objects that make up an environment where there is no room for anything new
