Celebrating the month of April, let us honor the dynamic and powerful singer, songwriter, director and actor, Barbra Streisand. Barbra was not always Barbra. She was born April 24, 1942, as Barbara Joan Streisand.

What made Barbara change her name at age 18? She wanted to be authentic — not like everyone else. She did not want to change her whole name, just slightly change Barbara to a more unique spelling.
