Saturn, The Scary Boogeyman
With so much pressure coming from Saturn in the coming 9 months, and its approach to Pluto, it is of the utmost importance that we learn the true nature of the ringed planet. Both planets have such bad and unfounded reputations, especially Saturn.
Is Saturn Really a Scary Boogeyman?
By Rick DiClemente
Even the most advanced astrologers will insist that it is the planet of limitations, an appellation I argue with consistently. Can you see the archetypal god-force of Saturn waking up in the morning and saying to itself, “Who can I stop today? Who can I restrict?” It is obvious that the planet is extremely misunderstood. Yes, without a doubt, whether it’s in your natal chart or transiting, Saturn will tend to make you feel older, slow you down, perhaps cripple you, etc. But, it’s not because it is the “Great Malefic” as stale old titles maintain.
You will not go far in life unless you have a significant, importantly placed and strong Saturn in your chart. Period.
It is the planet that gives form to energy and ideas. What you are like on the inside is exactly how Saturn will direct things to be on the outside.
One reason it is so feared is that it will make your work and will add more weight to your shoulders. Let’s make it very clear.
Besides its karmic nature, Saturn and the sign it rules, Capricorn, are always doing one thing:
Making sure. That’s what he does, he makes sure. Therefore the Capricorns, in general, are the ones at the office that get the big jobs, the critical ones because they will make sure it gets done. They’ll do whatever it takes.
While writing “The Exquisite Zodiac” I tried to affix a one-purpose idea to each sign, but I just couldn’t do it. Nevertheless, that’s what Saturn does, it makes sure. Almost all Capricorns, which is really saying something, have one thing in common – they all have a great sense of duty and responsibility. They couldn’t shake this if they had to. This is the great secret as to why they “make sure things get done.”
Now, here is the reason people dread it: you cannot fool the outer planets. With Saturn, it knows if you are being responsible or not. Not because it’s a secret Santa-Claus-planet. Saturn like all the planets reside inside of us. We know if we’ve done a half-baked job or not. We can’t fool what we see.
So, that brings us to Saturn today, in its own sign of Capricorn, approaching conjunction with Pluto on January 12, 2020. Yes, that soon. It will affect the entire world in great ways as with your own personal natal chart. So, how does one deal with the great taskmaster? You get with it. Saturn is the planet that influences you to “make your life exactly the way you want it.” And, if it isn’t the way you need it to be, you (Saturn) will keep pressing any button you have to until it is.
So, folks, there is your great big, scary boogeyman Saturn. All the planets will “help” you if you try. It’s called going with the flow. And in this sense, Saturn is about getting your life issues, very down to earth issues, how they need to be. If you want to make this great Saturn-Pluto era during the remainder of 2019 and all of 2020, you will need to have a talking-to with yourself. Get ideas of what works and what doesn’t in your life. Leave nothing out. Get to it. Fix what you need to do and avoid leaving it to other people, institutions, relatives or the government. Astrology frowns very heavily on any type of codependency. You will see this manifest all around as Saturn is really going to pick up speed and fly through Capricorn covering 18 degrees ending up at the 2nd degree of Aquarius by May.
Once again, I remind you: it is inside you. It is a powerful archetypal force that makes you want your life to work out in a functional, earthy way. The joke here is that you are the one who is going to have to make it work by doing the work.
Saturn is also the most common planet transiting when one gets awards and promotions. Does that surprise you? Don’t be surprised. If there are loose ends dangling in your life in any form, Saturn will add them to your do-list while you sleep. Santa is quite Saturnian after all, don’t you think?
