Our Soul’s Path – Raising our Soul Tribe

soul tribe OMTimes

As we awaken to more spiritual life, our soul tribe crosses our path, and as they do, it is helpful to recognize who they are and their purpose in our life. It first starts with an understanding of our soul’s mission, engaging in spiritual practices to heighten awareness so we can not only learn from them but offer them our gifts, before ultimately moving forward on our journey.

Raising our Soul Tribe – How to Recognize and Engage in our Soul’s Path

by Jennifer Ott

When most refer to their tribe, they refer to their “earthly” tribe – close friends and family. These are the people we have a great deal of trust and comfort. And while it’s important to have an earthly tribe, our soul brothers and sisters are just that, of the soul, not of any physicality. In the case of our soul tribe, who are these people, how do we recognize them, and what purpose does their serve?

Whether we are conscious of it or not, we all have a purpose in this life. The closer we come to recognize our life’s purpose, people will come into our lives to teach us lessons and to help us along our journey, and often, they appear as a blip in time as a spark from a match before they burn out. It is enough to get out attention.

Understand the Mission of our Tribe

Many philosophies and ideologies are surrounding the soul and soul tribe. They are people with whom we have shared lifetimes together, and/or those with whom we share the same cosmic frequency. No matter how we describe them, our soul tribe comes and goes like the wind carrying a feather, giving us messages for our current journey here on Earth.

Our soul’s mission is often different from personal goals and ambitions. We may be here today to recover deep karmic healing, to heal others, rekindle lost loves, or to awaken others to deeper spirituality. Once we realize our own journey, we meet others on a similar one. It is where we meet our soul tribe.

Raising Our Tribe

Our tribe exists. There is nothing we need to do except knowing they do exist. We need only raise in our awareness through learning more about our own soul and this can be done through a myriad of practices – whatever process speaks to our individual soul. Deep meditation and shamanic ceremonies illuminate our awareness of what is physically around us, as well as the energetic frequencies. We begin to feel others in a deeper sense.

Recognizing our Tribe

There is a multitude of ways of recognizing our tribe. One is a sense we have met them before, although we haven’t. We try to remember where we have seen them before. Maybe it was this lifetime, perhaps it was another. It is not their physical appearance we remember, but past life memory or their subtle energy we relate to.

Another way of recognizing our tribe is through a triggered emotional response – good and bad. Our soul tribe isn’t just the warm and fuzzy hugs that tugs at our heartstrings. Their presence can set us off into an inexplicable rage, or we have an ill-feeling about them. There can be no reason to dislike someone, other than when they walk into the room, we want to leave. Don’t. Their energy is provoking you for a reason.

Engaging with our Soul Tribe

This engagement isn’t necessarily a physical hug, or anything of an intimate nature (although it could be). This engagement is the study of why they arose and why we arose for them? What do we need to learn from one another? Why are they and we at each other’s crossroads?

These engaging crossroads are not one-way streets. Think of it as an offering between friends. They give us something, and we give in return. These gifts may not even be conscious, but they are truly meaningful. It could be the gift of knowledge, understanding and forgiveness, anything that liberates a burden we are carrying. The present can be a joy to lift one another’s spirits, or it can be a bomb thrown at us to upset our life and turn us in another direction (That happens too), painful, yet needed.

Letting go of our Soul Tribe

This not only feels painful but counterproductive. These amazing people entered our life, taught us amazing lessons, pointed us in the right direction and now we have to say goodbye?

Attachment to anything, whether it is an idea, a material item, or even a person, is a detriment to our progress. When we hold on for too long, it is a sign we are not moving forward. We can be thankful and even blessed for these people, but we have to understand their purpose in our lives. They may be with us for the long haul, or just a second, and yet still offering us tremendous opportunity.

It is important to remember; our soul tribe has their own path to walk and their own karma to shed. Our tribe crosses our path to help us, and vice versa. Letting our soul tribe go honors their path and salutes their journey, as it sparks ours.
