Are You Experiencing Past Life Memories or Déjà Vu?

Déjà Vu Past Life Memory OMTimes

Many people have had this feeling of having been somewhere they had never visited before – Déjà Vu.  According to the spiritualist set of beliefs, DéjàVu can be linked to past life memories.

Past Life Memories or Déjà Vu?

Everyone carries a piece of the puzzle. Nobody comes into your life by mere coincidence. Trust your instincts. Do the unexpected. Find the others.

~ Timothy Leary

Among all the infinite mysteries of the Universe that we only try to understand, reincarnation and déjà vu are two themes as mysterious as their own origins.

It is known that both words have different meanings. Past lives and feelings of having been through one are the mild definitions of those words, but some people have argued that déjà vu is directly related to the process of reincarnation.

Is it possible to have memories of past lives and be attracted to loved ones from the past? Are the familiar ties karmic meetings, or just imagination?

These are just some of the questions that arise when people start experiencing these exquisite situations.

 Past Lives Memories

The memories of past incarnations are stored in our unconscious mind, and they can influence and a vast array of decisions we make in our everyday lives. All these memories and recollections once “awaken” can help our spiritual growth in this lifetime.

In broad terms, reincarnation is equally treated by philosophers and religious individuals as a situation in which a portion of the being can survive the death of the body. This means that this portion, termed as consciousness, soul, or spirit, could be able to inhabit several bodies successively to achieve a specific purpose, such as Self-Realization, enlightenment, or even payment of Karmic debt.

Reincarnation Modus Operandi

There are disagreements about how the process of Reincarnation occurs, depending on who has studied the topic and formulated theories that define it. Philosophers, such as psychiatrist Ian Stevenson, from the University of Virginia, United States, carried out studies on the subject. The doctor collected data from more than 3000 cases worldwide that would provide evidence of the reincarnation phenomenon.

Reincarnation and Déjà vu As Different Phenomena

Reincarnation is not really a foreign concept; it has been a basic belief for many Religions and Spiritual traditions such as the many traditions from Ancient Egypt, Hinduism, Buddhism, Spiritism, and many others.

Déjà vu and the Feeling of Knowing

Déjà vu, on the other hand, describes the psychological reaction of a subjecting “knowing,” the inner certainty that one has been in that place before, one has seen or known those people before or that recognizes mannerisms, material artifacts, and other external elements.

The term Déjà vu is the French expression, which means “Already seen.” Absolutely all in the world, one time or another had had this experience as the feeling is always the same: the feeling of doing something and noticing that it has apparently happened before.

It may seem like a trick of the mind, but the phenomenon has been widely studied by neurologists around the world. One of the most reasonable explanations is that the brain has specific and unique types of memory, such as immediate memory, responsible for the ability to immediately repeat a phone number that is said – and then forget about it.

Another type is short-term memory, which lasts a few hours or days, but which can be fixed, and also long-term memory, which lasts for months or even years, which can be the learning of a specific language or task.

According to Neurologists, Déjà vu occurs when there is a brain failure: the facts that are happening at this moment are stored directly in long or medium-term memory, instead of without going through immediate memory, which gives us the feeling that the fact has already occurred, when in fact it hasn’t.

Past Lives Déjà Vu

It turns out that the phenomenon of déjà vu can also be directly linked to reincarnation since not all cases where the feeling of being in a past situation can be considered a déjà vu, or a “failure of memories sub-routines” from our brains.

Connections Between Reincarnation and Déjà Vu

There are specific and – not uncommon – cases in which past memories and recollections happen.

Hans Holzer, in his book Life Beyond Life, describes that many of these experiences can be explained as precognition.

“An experiment is planned and is not recorded on the spot. Later, when the experience becomes objective reality, and the person goes through it, he suddenly remembers ‘in the blink of an eye’ he already knew him. In other words, most déjà vu experiences are nothing more than forgotten precognitive incidents,” he says.

Other factors may explain how déjà vu is linked to reincarnation, such as spiritual vision, stating that these visions are, in fact, memories of times lived in previous lifetime existences.

As a Spiritual concept, all beings are souls reincarnated on planet Earth in the eternal search for evolution, and for that reason, certain memories of past lives are recorded on our subtle bodies, which is the intermediate element between the material body and the soul. These memories return to the mind, activated by some image, sound, smell or sensation that sparked a direct connection that refers to that past moment or situation.

Many Religious traditions claim that all memories of other lives are not erased from the subconscious. Otherwise, we, conscious beings, would never learn from past lives and would not evolve.

The Different Manifestation of Past Lives Memories

All the records of your past lives are contained within your own mind, just as the records of your ancestors are contained within your DNA.
