Kara Johnstad: Moon in Capricorn
The world, as we knew, stopped last March, when a pandemic was declared. Since then, time took on a new meaning and a new tempo. We are all living in a Time of COVID moments, where feelings, attitudes, and things have acquired different values. And yet, Art has the power to subvert what we believe to be translatable, and direct, but as always, time, space, and inspiration spring up on Kara’s Johnstad’s new album, “Moon In Capricorn” – a work created, recorded and released during these quarantine times, brings to life a multitude of soul searching influences and powerful reflection.

Art, like life, is an open secret. ~Lawrence Durrell
Astrologically speaking, the people who have the Moon in Capricorn, a sign of the earth element and cardinal modality, tend to keep their emotions under control. Even though they have complex emotions under the surface, they tend to keep a cool head, and they are often known as stable and reliable people. Under the influence of the Moon in Capricorn, we tend to learn from their mistakes and confront our fears.
In Kara’s “Moon in Capricorn” Cd is an intimate work, flowing for her experiences, each one of her music arrangements follows a cadence and unique sequence, telling their stories, and unveiling its own reasonings. As an architect, Kara constructed a delicate blueprint for this Opus, sometimes with the grandiose of an Orchestra, sometimes the music gained jazzy contours.
Moon in Capricorn belongs to a vast array of Seasons of life, from where all the experiences and emotions were virtually harvested to compose these compositions and melodies.
We know that Kara is Keynote Singer, a Visionary, Composer, a songwriter, a teacher, also a voice coach and expert in Yoga of the Voice. Being a multidimensional artist, her creative process, in many ways, is similar to my own. One time, not long ago, we talked and joked with each other about our Ecstatic Rainbow Mother status: This strange but Creative Rainbow Woman archetype refers to the two mothering archetypes as the “Ecstatic Rainbow Mother” and the “Nurturing Earth Mother.” We were, as she is always in a permanent estate of creation, continually unfolding, always becoming, always evolving.
Kara is undoubtedly a bard of sorts, an Acoustic Soul.
On her Website, in Kara’s own words:
” The final song of the album, Message of Hope, is the song that called me to reach out to Fabrizio Pigliucci. I was surfing the web and heard the melody. I was fascinated. I asked him to send me music for The Essence Radio Show that I was producing, and that featured 90 minutes of the finest artists around. He sent me a simple demo of a song that let me take flight. I felt like I had found a diamond in the middle of the marketplace. I was drawn to Fab’s amazing melodies and spirit. Little did I know that by trusting in my inner voice and guides – that first meeting in Rome would lead to him arranging and orchestrating my next album.”
The music of the orchestral album “Moon in Capricorn” was performed by the 60-piece Concertissimo Orchestra in Bucharest, Romania, and the 40-piece Concertissimo Orchestra in Rome, Italy.
I big shout out to her team, which made it possible to bring to life this exquisite musical project.
