During this time of change, many have chosen to remain silent for fear of retaliation. Some stand their ground and demand their voice to be heard. Many conscious educators pay no mind to the propaganda and news headlines. They know everything works out for the highest good. In this case, they hold the intention that students will receive the education they deserve, and teachers will be valued and respected, no matter what the parameters. The conscious educator will preserve their profession for the sake of their students.
The Conscious Educator has completed the compulsory course of study for their degree and certification area. Many have also completed a master’s degree in education, along with hundreds of hours of professional development. They have invested their money, time, and energy in educating children as a public servant.
What does the Conscious Educator know? They know that no amount of “disbarring” of permanent certificates, standardized testing, or teacher evaluation systems will disengage them from their objective…teaching children. There …I said it
When the Conscious Educator is met with opposition that appears to have been constructed to turn children into “standardized” adults, they are armed and ready to meet this challenge head-on. They know that their education has prepared them for it.
Where is the Conscious Educator teaching? They are teaching in both public and private schools. They will do what they have always done. When everything appears to be in opposition to learning, they will do their best! They find alternatives. They become even more resilient by designing lessons that are not only standards-driven but also engaging students with academic rigor, creativity, and imagination. The conscious educator laughs in the face of bureaucratic dogmas. They are not dissuaded by the attack.
Bring on the testing. Bring on the teacher evaluations. Bring it all on. Rest assured, there are many bright, cheerful, Conscious Educators’ teaching your children with integrity and ingenuity in this country. They will not waiver or be distracted from their objective, which is to do what they have always been doing…teaching students to do their best.\
