We exist in a world where there always seems to be a new obstacle or challenge set in our path. While it most certainly is easier to allow ourselves to be upset or frustrated, we must rise to the challenge and shift our perspective instead. We know this isn’t a small task to ask of ourselves. We know it’s going to take time and dedication. We also know things worth fighting for tend to be worth it in the end. Perspective is everything. Perspective is the key!

The truth is we can view the truth in both positive and negative lights. We have the power to choose which way we shall see things in. Are we a glass-half-full or half-empty kind of person? Whichever we choose to focus on will only get bigger in return. Let’s choose to focus on the light. There is always a silver lining in every situation. Even if we have to really look at certain times. By doing this, we are training our minds to view the best. It is like learning to tie our shoes. One moment we are concentrating, and the next, it is second nature.

We’ve heard time and time again to be positive. It is important to both think positively and acknowledge when things need to be addressed. Differentiating between the two is absolutely essential. Shifting our perspective to a positive one should enhance our overall well-being. Believing in a positive way may have certain health benefits. Negative emotions can stress our immune system, and in doing so, can make our bodies fight harder than they need to. If we think more positively, we may see a decrease in our inflammatory responses. We could even think clearly and strive for our long-term goals instead of our short ones. Showing kindness and affection can also be linked to oxytocin, also known as the cuddle hormone.



There are simple ways we can begin shifting to a more positive perspective. Starting our day with a positive outlook is important. It sets a precedent for the rest of the day. We should start with gratitude from the first moment we wake up. Be grateful that we have an opportunity for another day. Try to include things in our day that brings us joy and inspiration. We must try to smile and laugh when we can. There are outlets out there when we need to find inspiration in a challenging moment. Choose to see the silver lining in those times that challenge us. Tell our agitations and anxiety that we don’t have time for them. We only have time to be happy. Begin accepting that life is uncontrollable. Just because something went wrong doesn’t make it our fault. Doesn’t make us less of a person in any way. Focus on the solution instead of the problem. Be compassionate to others, but also, we must remember to be compassionate to ourselves. Find time in the day to practice self-care. Trying to pour from an empty cup just isn’t good for our minds or bodies. Last but not least, make sure we sleep well at night. It is hard to start a positive day on a bad night’s rest.

When we shift our perspective to a world of positivity rather than negativity, our minds begin to change. What once seemed like a daunting task has become second nature to us. We have learned that it really is our choice. A choice that we have to keep choosing every day until it becomes a new normal. By shifting our perspective into a new light, we can enhance our minds and bodies and begin to feel lighter, healthier, and happier. We have many tools at our disposal to help us on this mission if we only seek them out when we need to!
