“The Wheel of Fortune” is the loom of the Moirae, Clotho, Lácheis, and Atropos – the Greek goddesses who spun, wove, and cut the Thread of life. It is a metaphor for the processes of birth, growth and development, and death. The Wheel of Fortune Card announces the end of personal and generational cycles.
The Thread of Life on the Wheel of Fate
The Wheel of Fortune Card represents the harvest of what we sow and, in this sense, it shows its facet as an element of Karma.
Despite its optimistic meaning, it does not suggest prosperity, luck, and fortune out of nowhere. All of this is related to the actions you have taken so far. Your goals will be realized if you’ve laid the groundwork by making sensible choices and pursuing your projects hard. You sowed and watered your crops. Now it’s time to reap good fruits.
However, if you have accommodated or acted recklessly, your harvest may not be the best. The warning is valid for the course of your life or the situation in question. When the opportunity presents itself, you must be well prepared to seize it.
This archetype brings optimism and announces that your luck may be about to change for the better.

Likewise, if things are going well for you, know that you need always to be prepared for sudden changes. You have to learn to adapt to situations and circumstances.

Jupiter is the planet associated with the Wheel of Fortune, a planet that symbolizes growth, expansion, opportunity, and success. This Tarot card reminds us how everything in life is fleeting transitory, and we live several cycles that begin, end, and restart.
Fortuna was the Roman goddess of chance, luck (good or bad), fate, and hope. She corresponds to the Greek deity Tyche. She was represented with a cornucopia and a wheel, which symbolized the distribution of goods and the coordination of men’s lives. She was usually blind (like the modern justice image) as she randomly distributed her designs. In Hinduism, The Goddess of Fortune is called Lakshmi.
The Wheel of Fortune Card – The Impartiality of Impermanence
In analyzing the image of this arcane, we see a large Wheel supported on an axis. At the top are a figure (usually a sphinx, which symbolizes the challenges) and a character going up and down in its arc.
It is not about the money wheel, therefore. Instead, it’s the wheel of life.
In its broadest sense, the Wheel of Fortune Card reminds us of the cycles of fate. As galaxies and great empires go through periods of development, apogee, and decline, so does our life.
However, the movement is circular, and as nothing remains forever at the top of the wheel, nothing remains in decay. Instead, the wheel turns, and then a new phase begins. They are cycles within cycles – some longer, others of short duration.
This arcane reveals to us the cycles that are repeated in our life; and indicates, when associated with a minor arcana, in which position on the wheel we are at that moment concerning a given situation.
Therefore, the Wheel of Fortune card invites us to be open to destiny’s opportunities, take advantage of good luck, and deal with bad luck, denials, or periods when things don’t go well.
There will always be good Karma and bad Karma, and as the wheel of life moves on, old Karma is exhausted, and again, new Karma is accumulated.
Karma is twofold, hidden, and manifest. Karma is the man that is. Karma is his action deal. True that each action is a cause from which it evolves the countless ramifications of effect in time and space and exerts a ripple effect. To the worldly man, Karma is a stern Nemesis. Karma unfolds itself in harmony with his highest aspirations to the spiritual man.
