The Rausis Technique for Lucid Dreams

Rausis Technique

Learn the step-by-step technique to improve your Lucid Dreaming capability through the Rausis Technique developed by Swiss Therapist Jean Rausis.

The Rausis Technique

After dedicating years and years to studying lucid dreams,  Jean Rausis finally developed an incredible technique that takes his last name but promises quick and easy results for entering and traveling in the world of dreams.

In his research, Rausis sought to alter and manipulate the conscious state of mind. As a result, his technique achieved acclaimed status, where even beginners could have lucid dreams on the first try.

Rausis, the Powerful Technique for Having Lucid Dreams

The concept behind the RAUSIS technique goes straight to the point. First, access your memory reservoir: you can sense when an external sound is included in your dream, right? Something like a phone ringing, an alarm, or just someone asking you to wake up.

Well, this ability of the brain to incorporate external noises can be very well explored concerning lucid dreams. For the more untrained or untrained person, when your body hears a noise in “real life,” your mind instantly associates it with the dream to make that sound out of context make sense.

The RAUSIS method allows you to quickly fall asleep in deep REM sleep. From there, you will reach a hypnagogic state (drowsiness that precedes true sleep), and you will be ready to reach the long-awaited moment of lucid dreaming.

According to Jean Rausis, 6 out of 10 individuals can have lucid dreams on the first attempt. At the same time, the other 4 achieve it within 3 shots. Therefore, compared to other techniques that involve external triggers, RAUSIS proved to be extremely efficient.

Lucid Dreams – How to Have Them Often

You will need two basic items to practice the Rauss technique: a cell phone and an alarm clock (or two cell phones, or two alarm clocks, or a cell phone with the necessary settings). Now just follow the steps below:

SET AN ALARM

Get the first alarm clock and set the alarm exactly three minutes before the next alarm clock. The alarm volume should be loud and clear, and you’re the one who sets the time. You can practice the technique both in the morning and during your night sleep. The important thing is that you feel tired enough to sleep.

It is important to note that the second alarm should not go off “infinitely.” Instead, get some device that repeats the noise only for a certain amount of time (between 30 and 60 seconds), and then stop.

If you are exposed to the noise of the second alarm for a long time, the chances that you will wake up are very high, and that is not what you want here.

PRESS THE “SLEEP” BUTTON WHEN IT RINGS

When the first alarm sounds, activate “snooze” mode immediately. It’s important to tell yourself that the next sound you hear will be present in your dreams. This warning will leave your mind waiting to hear another alarm.

That is to say, keep the first alarm device right next to you. Then, as soon as it rings, open your eyes slightly, turn off the alarm and go back to sleep, knowing that second time will ring.

Your sleep should not be interrupted, and the function of the first alarm is to put you in a short REM state.

LISTEN TO THE NEXT ALARM

As soon as you go back to sleep, within 3 minutes, the next alarm will go off. This noise should be audible enough. And from there, the sound should appear in your dreams, included in some context of the story created by your mind.

YOU ARE IN A LUCID DREAM

You are now in a hypnagogic state, and finally, you can have lucid dreams. Enjoy, for this is the stage where you can do anything you want. However, it is important that, within the dream, you move away from what is emitting noise (in this case, your alarm) so that you are then free to command your dreams.

THE IMPORTANCE OF INDUCING AN HYPNAGOGIC STATE

In the RAUSIS method of lucid dreams, the focus is precisely on achieving this state. And it should happen the moment you turn off the first alarm, and your body wants to go back to sleep. From there, you’ve implanted a trigger and a voice in your mind that should be warning you that another alarm will go off—at which point a short hypnogogic state begins.

When you are partially awake and partially asleep, you reach the ideal state for having lucid dreams.

TECHNIQUE SUCCESS DETAILS

Although it sounds simple, some details need to be tweaked for the RAUSIS technique to work as it should. First, see what the main topics to have lucid dreams as quickly as possible are.

ACCURATELY SET THE VOLUME OF YOUR ALARMS

Adjusting the volume of your alarms is one of the most important details, especially the second one. After all, if the volume is turned up too high, it will wake you up; and if too low, it will let you remain asleep.

A tip is to perform some tests before using the technique for real. Set a volume and keep adjusting it until you reach a threshold.

The sound of the first alarm should wake you up without scares, and the second should just be enough to penetrate your subconscious without waking you up.

3 MINUTES BREAKDOWN IS NOT A STANDARD

During the step-by-step technique, we gave you a tip to set a 3-minute interval between one alarm and another. However, this is just a standard number, and it can vary depending on how long it takes you to go back to sleep.

You know yourself better than anyone else, so feel free to set the timeout to 4, 5, or even 6 minutes. Take care of these adjustments just as you handled the volume of alarms.

DON’T TRY TO FORCE SOUND INTO YOUR DREAMS

Even though everything is perfectly defined, your mind may have difficulty including external sound in your dreams. Still, you shouldn’t try to force this noise.

Not only does this not work, but it can also make the process even more difficult on the next try. Did it not work? Just turn off the alarm, go to sleep and try again at another time.

Eventually, your mind must get used to the fact that you have no intention of waking up on the second alarm. This should make it even more likely for the sound to reach your dreams and become a trigger for your lucid dreams.
