Working with Eclipses and Energy Shifts
In working with the energies of eclipses, some caution is needed, but it is an opportunity for heavy-duty personal Karma cleansing.
Working with the Energy of Eclipses
Since the dawn of time, few astronomical phenomena are as exciting to the human mind as an eclipse. In Karmic Astrology, the lunar nodes, the head and tail of the dragon, are seen as the connections or invisible threads between the Soul and its numerous past lives.
In working with the energies surges of an Eclipse, some caution should be observed. Keep in mind that an eclipse is always a planetary cleansing process on a major scale, as well as an opportunity for a heavy-duty Karma clearance on a personal level.
To many early civilizations, the Moon’s monthly cycle was an important tool for measuring the passage of time. In fact, many calendars are synchronized to the phases of the Moon.
Because the Moon’s orbit around the Earth is inclined by about 5° to the orbit of the Earth around the Sun, eclipses do not occur at every full and new moon. For an eclipse to occur, the Moon must be near the intersection of the two orbital planes. The periodicity and recurrence of eclipses of the Sun by the Moon, and of the Moon by the Earth, is described by the saros cycle, which has a period of approximately 18 years.
The Hebrew, Muslim, and Chinese calendars are all lunar calendars. The New Moon phase is uniquely recognized as the beginning of each calendar month, just as it is the beginning of the Moon’s monthly cycle.
When the Moon is New, it rises and sets with the Sun because it lies very close to the Sun in the sky. Although we cannot see the Moon during the New Moon phase, it has a very special significance with regards to eclipses. No doubt a time for renewal and rebirth. Many people think that watching a solar eclipse will prove an invitation to misfortunes.
Solar eclipses have been blamed for war, famine, and the deaths of kings but today, conditions and results are totally changed.
Generally, 2-4 solar eclipses occur every year, and also the location of occurrence of a solar eclipse is also not specific. In essence, an eclipse is no eviler than the shadow of a tree or a tall building. The moon just blocks off the sun’s light for a brief, beautiful moment.
Eclipses can only occur when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are all in a straight line (termed “syzygy”). Solar eclipses occur at the New Moon when the Moon is between the Sun and Earth. In contrast, lunar eclipses occur at the Full Moon, when the Earth is between the Sun and Moon. The apparent size of the Moon is roughly the same as that of the Sun, with both being viewed at close to one-half a degree wide.
The Sun is much larger than the Moon, but the vastly greater distance gives it the same apparent size as the much closer and much smaller Moon from the perspective of the Earth. Due to the non-circular orbits, the variations in apparent size are nearly the same as well, though occurring in different cycles. This makes solar eclipses possible both total (with the Moon appearing larger than the Sun) and annular (with the Moon appearing smaller than the Sun). In a total eclipse, the Moon completely covers the disc of the Sun, and the solar corona becomes visible to the naked eye.
Since the distance between the Moon and the Earth is very slowly increasing over time, the angular diameter of the Moon is decreasing. This means that hundreds of millions of years ago, the Moon would always completely cover the Sun during solar eclipses, and no annular eclipses were possible. Likewise, about 600 million years from now (if the angular diameter of the Sun does not change), the Moon will no longer cover the Sun completely, and only annular eclipses will occur.
