Restoring your soul allows you to facilitate inner healing and a way to reshape your beliefs about yourself in an empowering way.

Why It Is Important to Restore Your Soul

by Melvin D. Nix

Are You Feeling Fragmented?

Feeling Separated From Yourself?

Do you often experience emotions of emptiness, rejection, and isolation? Have there been times when you’ve made decisions based on fear rather than confidence? Are you genuinely happy with who you see staring back at you when you look in the mirror? If you’re familiar with any of these feelings, it’s time for you to reconnect.

We’ve all experienced moments during our lives where we’ve spoken up only to have our voices silenced and our opinion dismissed. As a youth, you may have wanted to participate in sports, the arts, or academics. You shared your desires with family or friends who ultimately found a good reason for you to give up and pursue something else. Yet, every moment you were denied self-expression, a part of your soul was depleted.

Being Detached

Our lives are a summation of our experiences, environment, and family dynamics. In many cases, most people aren’t operating from a sense of their personality but an adapted one. We come into the world without a filter, so we don’t see anything wrong with how we express our emotions, desires, or opinions. However, as time goes on, societal expectations begin to frame who we are and how we think and respond. Once this conditioning occurs, we either adapt to fit in or become ostracized.

The problem with adapting is that your soul gets divided, becoming detached from your core. Being detached leads to indecisiveness, codependency, and a lack of self-confidence. Who you are as an original person full of intelligence, curiosity, and creativity, gets watered down into a hybrid of who you are? Let’s look at what the soul is and how it’s affected by external influences.

The Layers of Your Soul

The soul is the part of your conscious mind composed of your will, intellect, and emotions. It governs who you believe you are, and it contains the limitations defined for you by yourself or others. The soul is also the seat of the imagination, which gives us the ability to mentally construct our future and see possibilities.

Your soul also works in tandem with your spirit to produce your life, like a seed planted into soil. The thoughts you have are like seeds. When you begin to accept a repetitive thinking course, your conscious mind allows the seed of thought to be planted within the subconscious mind. Once those seeds of thought are sown into your subconscious mind, you will begin to talk, think and act in alignment with those thoughts. Your soul is then restructured to fit within your newly established thought patterns.

Your thought patterns trigger all of the emotions and feelings which you experience. So putting all of this into context, our will, intellect, and emotions have likely been programmed by our upbringing and not intentionally designed by you. In essence, parts of you are unexplored, have never been given expression, and have been repressed.

How Our Soul Gets Fragmented

Many of us are living on autopilot and not realizing it. Think of the times you disagreed with someone. Did you feel comfortable speaking your truth about the matter, or did you tuck your feelings away because you believed your voice wouldn’t make a difference? Each time you stop yourself from trusting your gut and moving in the right direction, your soul gets fragmented.

You develop a behavior of dampening the voice of your inner guidance, and you learn to distrust. Instead of utilizing your innate leadership abilities, you rely on a fear-based mindset and cut yourself short. Afterward, you kick yourself and wish that you would have responded differently. Ultimately this pattern of behavior leads to low self-esteem, feelings of resentment, and bitterness.

Feelings of envy, anger, and competition start to flood your mind because you know deep within yourself that you have more to offer the world, but you never let yourself out of the invisible prison which always seems to hold you captive. The failure to show up as your authentic self always leads to an internal struggle because you know that you’ve been living a life of compromise. You instinctively know that you are more than capable of greatness. You have bumped into your genius in times of desperation. You’ve had moments of power when it seemed like all was failing, and you rose to the challenge and conquered. The good news is that you can restore your soul, reintegrate your inner faculties and live from a place of authenticity.

Removing Blocks So Your Soul’s Essence Can Flow

To begin restoring your soul, let’s look at what restoration means. The word restore means to build up again, re-establish, and bring back to a former and better state. Have you ever paused enough to consider that you aren’t operating from your best state?

Restoring your soul is a process of revisiting old wounds and recovering your power from that moment. Traumatic situations get stored within your body and lock in emotional responses, creating internal blocks. Once you discover the areas where you have blocks and remove them, healing and restoration can flow. Restoring your soul allows you to facilitate inner healing and a way to reshape your beliefs about yourself in an empowering way. You will discover areas of your life where you accepted false beliefs prohibiting your life. Clearing emotional blocks and wounds will open up your heart to the beautiful person you are and reveal the wonderful opportunities that life has available to you.

Imagine the quality of your life once you’ve reconnected to your true nature. Think of how enriching your life will become once you remove the limits of your soul and you can be present in the world as a fully integrated person. Once you begin to change erroneous beliefs, you will sharpen your eyes and ears to the truth, and it will be liberating. Any investments made to restore your life by reclaiming your soul will reward you with unimaginable dividends, and you will enjoy learning about who you “actually” are in the process.

How To Put Yourself Back Together

Now that you understand the importance of your soul, let’s look at the restoration process.

Redefine Your Beliefs

The next time you experience a negative situation, take a moment to reflect on what was occurring in your mind, what emotions you were experiencing, and what actions you took. Then, ask yourself a series of questions about the event. More than likely, you handled the situation from a reactionary standpoint rather than intention. The reaction occurred simply by the chain reaction of beliefs you carried triggered by the event.

Once you identify those beliefs, ask yourself questions about the belief system to see where it came from. For example, a parent may have told you that working hard is the only way to succeed in life. So you have developed a pattern of killing yourself as you chase success. Meanwhile, your neighbor down the street makes more money, takes more vacations, and seems happier than you.

It makes life seem unfair that there are successful people who aren’t as hardworking. Erroneous beliefs must be uprooted like weeds in a garden so that they can no longer grow in your consciousness. Once you examine if this belief is true and where it came from, you will notice what has been shaping your mindset, and you can course-correct it.

 Reopen Your Heart

The majority of inner wounds stem from matters of the heart. Never receiving love from your mother, having your heart broken, or feeling betrayed by a friend is the most devastating. We associate love with a variety of people and interrelated circumstances. Once our hearts have been wounded, it makes us question everything about our self-worth and esteem. These experiences will cause you to close your heart and interfere with expressing or receiving love. You can’t be responsible for other people’s actions, but you can establish healthy boundaries that remove those blocked areas to begin to love and value yourself. Then you’ll be able to love others in the best way.

Rewrite Your Narrative

What would you tell me if I were to ask you who you are? Would you tell me about your upbringing, education, or occupation? Notice how none of these have anything to do with WHO you are. When you think of your life and where you have dreamed of being, does it match? Are the goals and aspirations you are striving for even your own?

To restore your soul means discovering who you are, how you feel, and how you want to live. You must begin a process of self-discovery that will allow you to uncover your originality. Think about what truly makes you happy. What motivates you? What have you always desired that you believed you could never obtain in your life? Once you’ve found answers to these questions, begin to write a life script that matches the story that reflects the real you. Surround yourself with people, places, and things that remind you of your script. Begin to allow thoughts, emotions, and desires to build within your heart and accept that you deserve to have them.

Being authentically you is your birthright! Your voice is needed, and your opinions matter. The world needs your gifts, talents, and ideas. So, restore your soul and reclaim your power!
