6 Tips to Make Fasting Easier
Fasting is often a difficult thing to do, especially if you need to get used to it. Whether preparing for a religious holiday, aiming to lose weight, or just wanting a break from food for a day, fasting can get messy and stressful without proper planning and preparation. But fret not; we’ve got your back with these helpful tips that will make fasting easier every time!
Fasting Can Be Difficult, but You Can Make Fasting Easier

1. Keep Fasting Periods Short
It may be tempting to go for a full day when you’re just starting to fast, but don’t do this. Instead, try and break your fast after about 6 hours. Of course, you can always prolong your fasting time a little if you need to, but remember that fasting for more than 18 hours might cause your body to start breaking down muscle tissue; this is not a good thing because it will reduce the overall calorie-burning effect of your short fasts.
2. Drink Lots of Water
During your fast, you need to drink lots of water. It will help to keep you hydrated, and it will also keep your digestive system running smoothly. Stick with clear beverages like water, unflavored tea, or lemonade; avoid drinks high in caffeine because they will make you feel jittery and nauseous during your fast. If you are sensitive to caffeine, try decaffeinated tea or a cup of plain water for a temporary caffeine-free break from coffee and energy drinks.
3. Use a Supplement
If you don’t have time to make breakfast before you start your day, using a natural fasting supplement powder can give you a little boost before you head out the door. They are great for those who find themselves eating late or working into the night and help with weight loss and detoxification.
4. Go for Walks or Meditate
You will likely feel a little groggy and foggy-headed during your fast, so go for a walk or take some time to meditate. Doing gentle exercises like yoga poses, walking, or stretching will help blood and oxygen circulate better throughout your body, promoting clarity and focus. This can help you get through your fast much more easily. Another great way to pass the time is by listening to audiobooks or podcasts; with any luck, you’ll finish your fast feeling refreshed and energized!
5. Eat Enough Protein
It would be best if you never went hungry during any fast, but your body needs some protein to get you through a longer period. Eating enough fiber and carbohydrates; eating the right foods can help you feel less irritable, help you sleep better, and speed up your metabolism.
6. Supplement Your Diet with Natural Sources of Energy
If you are used to eating a high-carbohydrate diet or if you have diabetes, fasting might be harder for you at first. However, supplementing your diet with natural energy sources such as chia seeds, coconut oil, and maca can help you easily get through your fast.
Fasting is a great way to get in touch with your body, think clearly, and feel rejuvenated. Try and practice these tips the next time you need a cleanse or detox.
