Fernando Broca: The Translator of Consciousness

Fernando Broca

Known across Latin America as “The Translator of Consciousness,” Fernando Broca is one of Mexico’s most influential modern spiritual teachers. Fer sees himself as a bridge between ancient wisdom and contemporary life. For more than two decades, he has guided thousands through profound inner transformation. Warm and compassionate, this charismatic teacher blends psychology, mysticism, and energetic awareness into practical tools for everyday living. In this exclusive interview, Fer shares the power of soul intelligence and how each of us can reconnect with our deepest purpose in a changing world.

An Interview with Fernando Broca: The Translator of Consciousness

OMTimes: You describe yourself as a “translator of consciousness.” What does that mean to you, and how did you come to understand that this was your calling?

Fernando Broca: For me, reality has two dimensions. One is the world we can touch, see, and measure with our senses. The other is the invisible, subtle world of energy—what I call the spiritual reality. My work is to build a bridge between these two dimensions. I translate the language of spirit—the movements of energy, synchronicities, signs, and symbols—into concepts and experiences that people can understand and use in their everyday lives.

In that sense, I feel like a “translator of consciousness,” someone who takes what belongs to the invisible realms and makes it accessible and practical in this one.

I realized this was my calling very early in life, when I was about four or five years old. I could sense and understand things that other people around me didn’t seem to notice. As I grew, I began to understand that my mission was to help others reconnect with that vast, sacred, subtle universe while still honoring that this physical world is also important and useful. But the physical reality we’ve been taught to believe in is often limited by our conditioning.

OMTimes: Your work blends psychology, mysticism, and energetic work awareness. How do you see these different disciplines coming together in the spiritual evolution of humanity today?

Fernando Broca: I see the essence as one. Psychology, energetic healing methods, and spiritual consciousness are simply different paths that lead us back to what is most pure and true. There is no real conflict between them, only different angles and levels of consciousness.

Fortunately, more and more scientists are speaking about and connecting with spirituality, and many psychologists and therapists are opening to the understanding that there is a deeper reality than what human knowledge has recognized so far.

I am convinced that all these parts are elements of a greater whole. When we expand and enrich our experience, we can see that each one of these disciplines is cooperating in service of a greater good.

OMTimes: Many describe this time on Earth as a global awakening—but also a time of chaos. What do you think is really happening on a collective level right now?

Fernando Broca: We are living in a time of awakening, a time of light, awareness, and responsibility. For the first time, the younger generations are guiding the older ones toward a search for harmony, a healthier way of living, and respect for Mother Earth and all beings that inhabit her.

It is natural that before any great change, even a positive one, there is resistance and attachment to old beliefs and old ways of understanding. Anything that takes us out of our comfort zone creates discomfort, and that is what we often call chaos.

From my perspective, chaos is simply the prelude that announces a greater time that is coming.

OMTimes: What do you mean by “soul intelligence”? Can you define it and explain how people can begin to access it in their daily lives?

Fernando Broca: Do you remember when people believed that the only real intelligence was mathematical? Later, we began to speak about multiple intelligences, including linguistic, perceptual, and emotional intelligence. Little by little, these ideas of intelligence have been expanding, and I am convinced that in this century we will discover the great intelligence of the soul—an intelligence of our true being.

For me, this soul intelligence shows itself through intuition, dreams, the recognition of patterns, and introspection. There are powerful tools that help us access soul intelligence such as meditation and mindfulness practices.

When we enter into the vastness of our own being, we connect with a level of intelligence and understanding that is much more transcendent than our usual mind. For me, the path is simple: it centers on silence, living more slowly, and paying attention to the vast inner universe that we already are but so often forget.

OMTimes: You have helped many people work through profound inner transformations. What are some of the most common obstacles you see that keep people from awakening to who they truly are?

Fernando Broca: The three main obstacles I see are: People lose connection with their own being. They forget their energetic and spiritual nature and become trapped in a purely physical and material vision of life.

1. They lose their sense of meaning. Life becomes only about work, money, success, and achievement. They forget how essential peace, mental clarity, attention, and inner wisdom are as well as expanding our horizons, traveling, and relating to one another as human beings.

2. They break their connection with the divine. People live in the illusion of separation and isolation and become dependent on their ego, on their “ego self.” They forget that we are connected to the universe, to a higher force, to a great love that many call God. But not the image of God from religions—rather, a God that underlies everything, that is present in life itself, that desires good, that brings order and harmony, and to whom we can all turn to expand our consciousness and transform the way we live.

OMTimes: In your teaching, you emphasize integration—bringing spiritual insights into everyday reality. What are the specific practices and attitudes that help to bridge that gap between spiritual awareness and human experience?

Fernando Broca: For me, the human experience itself is a spiritual act. We do not need to confuse spirituality with a temple or a sacred mountain. Being a mother or a father, living in a city, having a daily routine—all of that can be spiritual practice. I am more and more convinced that true spirituality leads us deeper into our own ordinary, human experience. For example, a person working on a farm, if they do their work with presence, intention, and awareness, can turn something as simple as raising chickens into a real spiritual experience.

Many people go looking for their teachers in distant ashrams in exotic countries, but they forget that it is often their children, their parents, and their partners who are really showing them their spiritual potential. In those relationships, we are constantly invited to practice patience, tenderness, compassionate understanding, forgiveness, and love.

I would say that any human experience, no matter how simple, when it contains love, intention, authentic presence, and consciousness, becomes a spiritual practice. Even reading or writing a book is as valuable as doing a deep meditation in the Himalayas, because you are bringing knowledge into your inner world and bringing wisdom into the present moment.

The great challenge of our times is to keep our spirit present without abandoning technology or daily life—to let our consciousness keep growing and to keep love at the center of our lives so that we can live well and cooperate with others in this great awakening.

OMTimes: More and more, your work reaches across different cultures and languages. Do you find that the essence of awakening feels universal, or does each culture experience and express consciousness in its own unique way?

Fernando Broca: Throughout my life, I have had the opportunity to practice spirituality in more than one hundred countries, and I have discovered that beyond skin color or physical gender, human beings essentially desire the same things: to live in peace, to grow and develop, to see our loved ones happy, to find a sense of purpose, and to enjoy everyday life. For me, all of this is part of what I call “living beautifully.”

What I can tell you is that mothers all over the world constantly long for the best for their children. People who work want a fair income so they can fulfill their dreams. And all human beings, in a more or less conscious way, have a longing for spirituality, for transcendence, for connection.

I can say that, at the soul of all spiritual traditions, the needs are the same, and the answers are also very similar. That is why, on my path, I have studied so many currents: Buddhism, Hinduism, Kabbalah, shamanism, Sufism, and Taoism, among many others. They have all helped me because they offer different ways of approaching the same human needs.

In the end, I could summarize it in four words that work for all people and all paths: love, fullness, healing, and harmony. Deep down, this is what we are all seeking, and this is what I try to bring closer to people through my courses, conferences, books, and seminars.

OMTimes: The relationship between the teacher and student can often be both a sacred and a challenging one. What have you learned from your students about yourself, and how has that helped to evolve your own spiritual path?

Fernando Broca: I am convinced that teachers teach what, deep down, we most want to learn. For me, my students are all teachers. They show me the most beautiful qualities: kindness, gratitude, and the deep longing to evolve and move forward. Of course, there are also those who teach me to work on my patience, my capacity to adapt, to flow, and to stay light.

It is my students who, over more than twenty-six years, have shaped and refined the teacher I am today. Through them, I have been searching for different ways to teach. Even though truth is one and the essence is the same on every path, there are many ways to transmit it: through metaphors, information, music, or direct experience. Each of my students has positively pushed me to expand my tools and to expand my heart as a teacher.

I can say that my students are my inspiration and that, through them, I have learned to grow as a person. Listening to their stories, I have often found answers to my own questions. Looking for solutions for them, I have discovered powerful paths of strength for my own life. A teacher, just like the students, continues walking a path of evolution and transformation. Authentic teachers are simply those who are a few steps ahead of their students, but we have not finished the journey.

I also believe, as Kuan Yin teaches, that all beings are connected to one another and that the true evolution of humanity and of planet Earth will only come when we are able to truly see and contemplate one another. My students are my real teachers, and they are the ones who have shown me that love for what you do always brings the best results.

OMTimes: If it´s true that we, as humans, are moving toward a new paradigm of consciousness, what qualities or virtues do you believe will define the “evolved human” in the coming decades?

Fernando Broca: Since 2012, we have entered a new vibrational level. Humanity and the entire planet are evolving, and there is a deeper need to awaken. For me, awakening means stepping out of the game of duality, out of the world of the ego, and out of the idea that human life is only an automatic process of making money and buying new things.
The new abilities are simple, and they will become more and more necessary: learning to use our attention, staying in peace, sharing what we know with generosity, positively impacting other people’s lives, healing through our hands and our consciousness, and understanding subtle information, symbols, and signs. It is about being able to read the universe and receive all the messages it is constantly giving us in so many ways.

A new humanity needs to learn to be in peace, to live with more silence, and to return to contact with nature, which is an inexhaustible source of wisdom. We need to step away a little from artificial intelligence so that we can return to deep wisdom, listen to the voices of the past, honor the elders of each people and tradition, and practice art.

All of this will allow us to evolve in a more ordered, harmonious, and healthy way. The time that is coming is a time of great potential, but only those who prepare themselves will be able to live it in its fullness and enjoy all its benefits.

OMTimes: Finally, for readers who are feeling lost, uncertain, or disconnected from their purpose, what simple steps can they take right now to begin reconnecting with their inner guidance?

Fernando Broca: For all those who are seeking spiritual awakening, I would recommend beginning with very simple practices.

The first is to practice silence: spend three minutes a day in complete silence. At the beginning, it may feel almost unbearable, because we are used to living immersed in inner and outer noise. But little by little, silence becomes an ally. It clears the mind and allows us to see things with greater clarity.
The second is very effective and easy to apply: get used to being grateful. When we constantly give thanks for both the small and the great gifts, and we turn gratitude into a habit, we raise our energy and our consciousness, and we begin to give shape to the kind of life we want to experience. We must remember that what we are thankful for multiplies.

The third is to pay special attention to how we use our time. Give yourself time to share with the people you love, time to read, to play, to have fun, to keep growing, and to nourish your heart and your life.
The fourth step is to learn to place your attention on what you truly want to happen. Negativity, guilt, and constant complaining only drain our vibration. But if we learn to focus on the results we do want, we will improve our capacity to magnetize and attract what we truly desire and to create and shape the realities in which we want to live.

Before finishing, I would like to recommend my book in English, 8 Universal Laws, where readers can discover spiritual practices from different traditions that are simple and can be adapted to daily life. I trust that spirituality is the path to a life in which we feel fulfilled; it is the path toward family healing, toward harmony with those around us, and the bridge that reconnects us with ourselves. It gives a sense of meaning that leads us to what is transcendent.

Spirituality is a return to the root, to love, to that force that keeps everything united and integrated, to the consciousness that we are all one.
