ABC’s of Actively Being Conscious: D is for Drop Down
In our society, the rational mind rules. From the time we were children, we’ve been encouraged to “use our heads”, “be sensible”, and “think it through”.
This is fine except that it’s been at the exclusion of using our other more expansive faculties, such as intuition, gut feeling, or our holistic “sense” of a situation.
It’s much more wholesome and effective to use both.
But we’re not generally trained or even encouraged to access those more intuitive parts of ourselves. The part of our being that just knows. The part that sees the whole picture all at once.
When your awareness is centered in your heart area, you have much better access to that all-knowing part of yourself. And “being there” is one way to expand your awareness and enter an open state of consciousness.
Today, you’re going to “drop down” from your head to your heart center. And here’s an easy way to do that.
(Hint: It helps in the beginning to do this with your eyes closed.)
1. Take a deep breath and as you do so, place your attention where your thoughts are (usually in the center of your head).
2. Begin to exhale slowly and as you do so, drop your shoulders as you fully relax.
