The Sun moves into Cancer today, marking the first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Cancer is the first water sign of the zodiac. It’s Mom, home and apple pie, fluffy pillows and fresh baked cookies, kissing boo-boos to make them better, caring and clucking, being sentimental and sensitive, even tearing up at commercials and songs.
Emotionally driven, protective impulses are coming to the fore. This turn of the astrological whee means it’s time, as always to water and nurture all the metaphoric seedlings that sprouted in the spring. This summer, though, all that’s getting an extra oomph. The Sun is moving into the easy flow of a grand trine in water with Saturn (order, commitments and rules) and Neptune (higher love, inspiration and illusion).
We will all be experiencing, riding, expressing and dealing with energy of water for the whole summer season. Welcome and honor the element today. Make a point to spend time by a body of water, whether it’s a stream, a pool, the ocean, a lake, a fountain or a bird bath. Invoke the grand trine’s flow by pouring water into the body you choose to visit. Tonight, immerse yourself in the element. Take a bake with salts and fragrant oils.
