Full Moons: The Number 13 and the Divine Feminine
The association with the number 13 is directly connected with the Divine Feminine in relation the the 13 Moons. The 13 Moons annually are recognized by indigenous cultures worldwide. Many Medicine Wheel teachings, including the ones I offer, have 13 Moons in the outer circle of the wheel offering teaching of the cycles of life and a deeper understanding of oneself to assist in self-actualization. The moon is the feminine energy of our luminaries and represents the mother and the receptive principle. The sun is the masculine energy and represents the father and the active principle.
Marian apparitions
The 13th day of each month is also associated with Marian apparitions or messages from the Divine Mother. Examples of such appearances are Our Lady of Fatima on starting on May 13, 1917; and the Virgin Mary on October 13, 1990 through October 13, 1998 – monthly on the 13th until 1994, then annually on October 13 until 1998 in Conyers, GA when they ceased.
The spiritual significance is personal to each of us though I recommend that we take the time to look inward through prayer, contemplation and meditation. Turn off the external distractions – computers, TVs, social media, phones – and look within. Quiet your mind. Listen to your own personal truth.
The actual time of the beginning of our Full Moon here in South Florida is June 12 at 9:13 PM (there is 13 again!) The energy of the Full Moon lasts for approximately 3 days which is why some are considering the Full Moon to be on June 13, 2014 where I live, yet is depends on your time zone. As with most monthly Full Moons, I will be offering a Full Moon Drumming Circle and Shamanic Journey at The Crystal Garden.
The first round of drumming will be dedicated to clearing away the old. The second round of drumming will call forth and invoke the new as you focus on and imagine your life as you want it to be. During the third round, I will drum you through a shamanic journey into yourself with your power animal to help uncover answers and guidance from within to step forth empowered and confident.
Regarding superstitions
All personal beliefs, thoughts and emotions create personal reality. If a person believes they will have good fortune or bad luck on a given day because of their belief systems, then they will attract that vibration to them to make it become a reality. Everything is energy. All energy vibrates. That vibration – be it a thought, feeling, emotion, belief – is sent forth and returns back in a circular direction to the sender of the vibration. It’s the basis of the expression, ‘what goes around comes around’, which is essentially a universal truth just like ‘as you think, so you are.’
With that being said, based on the paragraph above, if you believe that Friday the 13th will bring you blessings and a message from the Divine Mother then the possibilities increase greatly to create that reality. And likewise, if your beliefs are such to attract negative circumstances then you might just bring that upon yourself.
