Here we discuss some of the top types of foods that should be taken in the diet as less as possible, in order to maintain good health. These foods, when added to the diet very often in large quantities, aggravate the risk for health disorders such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and cardiovascular disorders. These nine foods should be taken in fewer quantities and should be compulsorily taken with healthy ingredients. Bangalore-based dietitians and nutritionists identify and recommend these nine types of foods to eat less, and that they be substituted or eaten along with healthy foods in order to maintain better health.

Nine types of foods to eat less include:

Butter contains high fats and cholesterol, so it should be taken in fewer quantities. It is advised to eat less; consume 1 teaspoon of butter only for the people who don’t have high lipid profile.

Carbonated beverages, like cola, should be avoided as these contain zero nutrition, leach out calcium from the bones, and irritate the stomach lining, causing discomfort.

Fast-food burgers are high in cholesterol, fats, high in calories, and can affect the intake of overall nutrients. Eat less burgers, supplemented with healthy side dishes, in case you do want to consume them in limited quantity.

Foods containing added, artificial food ingredients, such as certain dyes, should be best avoided because these have been shown to causes hyperactivity in children and causes allergy in some people.

Processed meat contains high content of nitrites, saturated fats, and cholesterol, which cause health disorders, so it should be best avoided. If you want to consume, eat less quantity once in a month, as advised by the dietitians.

Vegetable cooking oil contains saturated and unsaturated fatty acids along with cholesterol, which helps to gain weight, and helps to increase the risk of CAD, heart, diabetes, and cancer. So it is advised by the dietitians that people should eat less, and not take more than 3 to 4 teaspoons of cooking oil for better health.

Refined foods, like white rice and white sugar, contain less nutrients and less fiber, which contribute to weight gain and dental disorders. So it is better to eat less refined foods, and substitute with whole grains foods and unrefined foods instead of the refined and processed foods. Whole wheat bread and rolls are recommended for the diet instead of white bread and rolls, as these ‘whiter options’ contain less nutrients and are lower in vitamins and fiber. White bread is not recommended for daily diet, and could be taken occasionally.

Trans fats are formed during hydrogenation of vegetable oils, that cause ill health more than saturated fats. Trans fats increase LDL cholesterol and decrease the HDL cholesterol, which increase the risk two fold for heart disease and CAD Problems, so the use of hydrogenated vegetable oil should be best avoided in foods.
