Is Illness a Spiritual Assignment?
Divine Design – Is Illness a Spiritual Assignment?
If you are struggling with an illness, changing your perception can empower and inspire you in many ways. It can lead to greater love and understanding, perhaps even a life purpose. Although this may be your greatest challenge, is illness nothing more than a spiritual assignment? Has everything been divinely designed to bring you closer to God, resulting in a happier, more joyful, purpose-driven life?
Illness as a Contrast, to Analyze
If you believe this to be true, you can start by separating from the symptoms, as they are not a part of you? Discover what is at the root of the illness, release it, and move on. Stop talking about being sick. It’s natural for people to inquire, however, they may not realize, you are reiterating the same story over and over. It’s best to talk about what you want. “I am getting a little better every day”.
You are not the sickness. You are a soul, and your soul is well. Consciously and deliberately detach from whatever has a hold on you. It will help you through the hardest days, and you will begin feeling empowered. Looking death straight in the face and turning away, changes the way you think. It changes your personal truth, and it can definitely change your path in life. Not for one second does anyone think about work, their house or any material possession. What matters is the love you feel. These are the beautiful and vibrant images to hold on to.
Where might Illness Originate?
You may have questions. Have you reached out to loved ones enough? Do you wish you’d had the courage to say what you felt? Do you regret staying in situations and relationships because you thought that was what you were supposed to do? The answers will set you free, and clarify a path in which your soul knows the way. If you wished you had spent more time with family and friends, laughed more, and did not take life so seriously, that is where your work begins. It’s also powerful motivation to get well. The birth of a child, a kiss in the rain, doing cartwheels, playing on the beach, having tea with your Mom, these are the beautiful moments that color your life.
“I felt as if I had been trapped in an old black and white photograph and finally started emerging into a colorful vibrant music video.”
You are not broken. You are still you, even though you may not feel well. Give yourself permission to be happy on your own terms. Walk away from people and situations that bring you heartache and pain. Make a promise to infuse your life with all that you love. When you claim your life, by taking ownership of it, it will change. Getting sick may have brought your life to a screeching halt. Use this time to reflect. Fill each moment from this point on with love and gratitude. Unravel from anything that is not aligned with your authentic self. Relinquish control, and allow destiny to unfold. This is a spiritual assignment. If you can change your perception, you will emerge stronger, more confident, and with a renewed sense of what it means to be alive.
Asking the Right Questions about Illness
Personally, there we days I questioned everything, searching desperately to find meaning in the chaos that had become my life. Other days I had the most incredible blind faith where I learned to take small steps in a new direction with powerful intention. Everything felt like part of a clever, divinely designed plan. I began looking at it as a “spiritual assignment”. I was empowered by movement, as it fueled my determination. I found peace, courage and purpose realizing that God had not forgotten me.
This took me on an incredible healing and learning journey. There were many unknowns and variables. I focused on the finding stillness within. I was sick and I was tired, but most of all I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I learned to embrace all of it. I discovered my accountability and challenged myself in the most difficult painful moments to stop and separate from the symptoms. I stopped talking about it. The more I visualized and thought about feeling well, the better I truly felt.
You can begin today. Love is truth. Fear is the absence of love. Fear can hold you in the spaces and places you no longer wish to be. Claim all the moments of your life, the good, the bad and the indifferent. Bless them with love. Bless them a success. Bless the sickness. They are part of your story. In blessing them, you let them go. They are free to be what they are, and nothing more. Each experience is a link in the Golden Chain of your life. All that does not serve you will fade away on its own, back to its native nothingness. It has been divinely designed that way.
Appreciating Illness?
For a moment, you can breathe through anything, and separate from any symptom. You can envision and manifest health and wellness. Let your soul tell your mind what to think, and your body will follow. An illness is an opportunity, just like an assignment. It’s a way to heal your life and body in one shot! That s right, the aliment can actually heal your life and help you to discover truth, and perhaps a wonderful life purpose. Remain open to the vastness that is contained within your soul and the depth of all of which you feel, breathe and experience. It’s uniqueness and essence, is what makes it yours alone. Know that the questions you have will be answered in time, just keep asking. When you can do that, you will find a beautiful, peaceful and empowering connection with God, yourself and humanity. You are never alone, but part of a collective consciousness. Nothing in your life is a coincidence; everything is by divine design.
The next chapter of your life is happening in this moment. Although you may not be where you aspire to be, you are on your way. Everything is unfolding for your highest good. Your spiritual assignment has been divinely designed to lead you to a place of pure delight and wonder.

So God assigned me to have kidney disease? That doesn’t make me feel empowered.
no shit. I have liver disease and I am pretty sure the devil gave it to me. I do not feel empowered. I am too sick
Over my 62 years of life I have come to the conclusion that people try hard to find reasons for disease, disorder and disasters. I believe in God, the one with a son named Jesus, and I don’t believe that God gave individuals disease, disorders or disasters. I know he knew us before he formed us in our mother’s womb, because we are a part of God. He breathed life into man. The breath of life, our soul & spirit. He placed us in coats of skin to live a life on this earth. These houses, our bodies, are our temporary dwelling place, while on this earth. It is not eternal. One day it will be changed as was the body of Christ when he rose from the dead. It doesn’t make people feel empowered when you tell them that God gave them a disease or brought some tragedy on them or those they love to make them closer to Him. I don’t believe that God forms a baby without arms or legs in it’s mother’s womb to make that mother feel special that God trusted her with a baby born in this condition. As we see in nature, animals are also born with all types of conditions. Extra legs, no legs etc. It is all the condition of the flesh. It just happens. Sometimes there are explanations, mostly there are no explanations. People want to know why so we tell them and ourselves, something to make us feel better. To try to make sense of it all. Now that being said, we do have to come to the place that we love God not because of what he has given us, physically or monetarily, but because He is God. To Halo and Jill, I’m sorry for your illness, I pray you find healing for your body and peace in salvation for your soul. The only empowerment we have is through faith in God through Jesus Christ.
