The Balancing of Extremes
Our body responds to life with sensations of pain, pleasure, weakness, strength, constriction, expansion, rigidity and relaxation. Our body can feel light, heavy, pulsing, pounding, fluttery and free. Our physical energy can be excessive, depleted, stuck, or smooth flowing in various parts of our body. Due to fear or post traumatic stress disorder, we can also defensively disassociate and not experience physical sensations.
To human consciousness, our spirit can seem threatened, lost, broken, damaged or dead. Our spirit can also feel free, strong, happy, energized, peaceful, full, whole and wise. Intuition is generally believed to arise from our vital spiritual self, whether we receive it in the form of telepathy, emotion, physical sensation, or through our sense of vision, hearing, smell, taste or touch. These messages offer higher guidance as they tap into some of the factors unknown to our human self. Meditative practices are valuable in that they increase and enhance our intuitive abilities.
Paying attention to all of our internal and external signals, and except for emergencies, giving ourselves sufficient time to determine the healthiest response, affords us the greatest learning and maturation. This includes the “mistakes” we make. Often re-evaluating and understanding where we went wrong facilitates a leap forward in personal growth. There is no set formula for living rightly. Every change sets in motion other changes, so that we are internally and externally adjusting, rebalancing, and re-centering ourselves. We are meant to encompass extremes in ourselves and life, and to mindfully mediate between them. We are meant to be surprised, make mistakes, learn resilience and continue growing. We are meant to experience all of our human thoughts, emotions, and sensations, as well as the stirrings from our spirit. When we give fuller awareness and attention to the whole process of life, we can empower healthier, more positive decisions and actions. True health, happiness and fulfillment arise from taking full advantage of life’s opportunities for higher enlightenment and gracious generosity toward our earth and its inhabitants.
