Evolving Our Souls With Celestial Wisdom
If you read The Urantia Book, you will revel in the abundant detail about higher-dimension spheres where such kindly beings reside. If you like to plan way ahead, it is useful to know that you and I will inhabit these heavenly places one day in our long career of ascension after death. (Yes, the Urantia Revelation teaches an ascension cosmology that provides for only special cases of reincarnation; it’s an exception, by and large.)
Each of us pursues a lengthy personal evolution in the training regime of the afterlife, we read. Our experiences in these “societies of heaven” soon lead each of us to become more enlightened than Buddha ever was—though we are now living on higher worlds in the etheric realms.
In a far-distant time, all this culminates when we pass through the galactic center and tip our hats to the Ancients of Days, and then continue on our way to our high evolutionary destiny: to our ultimate home in the eternal central universe—the “mother universe” that is utterly beyond time and space and is the ultimate source of all things and beings. And there’s even more adventure for us waiting beyond that!
HEADING TOWARD THE FINAL ACT
Ranging far and wide, the Urantia text also depicts how higher beings nurtured the human race over the eons of time, from the original implantation of life in our oceans several billion years ago, until we first evolved from the higher primates about a million years ago. We might call this “Act I” of the grand drama of humanity on Urantia.
In what we can call “Act II,” we learn the harrowing story of why our planet went tragically astray in far-distant times, all culminating in the ultimate turning point for planet Earth: the life and teachings of Jesus Christ—esoterically considered in an entirely original biography. His incarnation here marks the point when an angelic rebellion that seared our collective life began to be healed and turned around.
“Times of great tribulation are times of great revelation,” says the Urantia Revelation. The human drama reaches its denouement in the disastrous wars of the twentieth century. The result was this gift of an epochal revelation that was completed during World War II. (Read just below about the actual revelatory process.) This singular event was our “Act III,” and we’re still ensconced in this part of the drama. Thus, humanity’s great modern crisis continues, with new challenges to face like nuclear proliferation and climate change. And these predicaments have led our celestial overseers to offer us even more mercy, providing us with the supplemental revelations we will examine later in this essay.
