Evolving Our Souls With Celestial Wisdom
So what’s the upshot for me? I confess that I have been a student of this revelatory process for almost four decades, and I still can’t put The Urantia Book down—not just because of its fascinating teachings on topics such as science, cosmology, philosophy, and history—but especially since it has conferred on me a sublime sense that the ups and downs of my own life are well-known on high; that these events are carefully observed and recorded, and that I am gently guided and loved beyond all measure.
This same feeling of “performing” in response to divine love may come naturally to you, especially if your parents taught you that we live in a friendly universe. Or it may have been acquired through your religious practices, reading of spiritual literature, and your life experiences, as it did for me. Whatever the case, I believe The Urantia Book will enhance your existing perception of a divine presence, showing you how divinity dwells both within you and all around you; it will increase your receptivity to spirit, just as it has for millions throughout the world; and it offers all this against the backdrop of universe that it says contains billions of inhabited worlds, all loved by a very great God. And finally, it will assist you through your personal dramas on the theatrical stage of your life, assuring you that a loving presence “has your back”—in fact is backstage holding the ideal script and whispering to you, right now, just what your ideal next exit or entrance could be.
WHAT IS THE URANTIA REVELATION?
I indicated that The Urantia Book (“The UB”) claims to be an epochal divine revelation to our planet. Well, big claims require big evidence, as Carl Sagan once said. Despite the understandable skepticism about The UB’s claim of being authored by superhuman personalities, some objective support exists for this assertion. After a decade of expensive copyright litigation, The UB was declared to be “public domain” in 2005 by the federal courts, inasmuch as no evidence of a human author could be produced by the original copyright holder, the Urantia Foundation. In addition, no one has yet been able to explain how or why a 2,000+ book with no known author could accomplish so many feats. For example, how has it been able to provide a seamless and internally consistent presentation about an astounding array of topics and then continue to dazzle thousands of readers worldwide for sixty years?
