Mind/Body Weight Loss – Day 0
Mind/Body Weight Loss: A Heart Centered Approach
by Angela Levesque
It is estimated that the diet industry makes an average of $60 billion dollars a year, yet we still have two thirds of our population overweight or obese. Part of the problem is that we put so much focus into diet and exercise, usually at the expense of quality and obsess about the quantity. However, weight gain isa symptom of imbalance and while diet and exercise may be the ‘how’ of the problem, they don’t address the ‘why’. Weight loss is more than just calories in versus calories out. This simplistic thinking doesn’t take into account the motivations, thought patterns and our relationships to food, exercise and ourselves. Even beyond that, how do our thoughts and feelings change our own field of consciousness and even the consciousness of the food we eat?
We have to eat and move everyday. They are fundamental to our existence, so we need to find meaning and purpose in our choices. They have to have inherent value to us; otherwise we are spending a large portion of our lives on something we see as a chore. In this mindset, we build resentment, guilt and even fear around our choices. Then we begin to move from a place where we don’t trust ourselves to make good decisions. It is time we regain our confidence in who we are and what we can accomplish. It is time to do the soul level work necessary to make the enduring changes, because it is our natural state to desire wellness. Mind/body weight loss is about moving through life with conscious awareness and making choices that are in alignment with your values and your purpose.
