Feng Shui from the Inside, Out – Day 24

Spots on carpets, mold on tiles, threads hanging from bedspreads or curtains, broken blinds, torn screens, chipped furniture…the list goes on and on and all of it creates a mild level of annoyance that is energetically disturbing, albeit at a very low level…but things add up and that’s the real problem. Your living space – your nest – is supposed to be the place you can look to for soothing at the end of the day, for inspiration at the beginning of the day. It’s supposed to provide you with the comfort you crave. That’s what good Feng Shui does. Anything that detracts from that state of mind is a detriment to the aura of well-being that is the goal of Feng Shui. Couched in comfort you can greet what life brings you equanimity; annoyed by loose ends, there’s a low-level vibration of frazzle that can interfere with your composure.

Now perhaps you are a person who isn’t bothered by such picayune things as greasy teapots or moldy showers, the thing is, your body is bothered. Our bodies are orderly and they run on schedules, they love routine and a healthy diet. You may think that you can slip a lot past them when you are young but it all adds up, relentlessly compromising the good work the body does for you until you become all too aware that things just aren’t working as they used to. Your body likes and responds well to order because it is orderly in its habits and in its functions; it responds well to cleanliness because it requires that to stay healthy. “You” may not care that there’s a red wine stain peeking out from under an armchair, but your body does. And even though its subtle responses may go unnoticed by you, since “you” live inside that body just as much as you live inside your space, your personal Feng Shui is compromised by the compromised Feng Shui of your home,
