Reclaim Your Powerful You! – Day 1
When you are finished, take the piece of paper, fold it and hold it to your heart. With your eyes closed focus on the word ‘power’ as well as the stories and information you wrote. Notice what feelings come up for you around power. As you do this, remember to breathe deeply and lovingly. Try not to judge what comes up, simply breathe and be with all that emerges.
After you feel complete, ask yourself if you are ready to release any negative associations you have with the word power and approach the word anew. If you answer ‘no’, ask what is blocking you – write it down – and repeat the exercise, this time bringing awareness to your blocks. If you answered ‘yes’(or are unclear or feel ready to move ahead) then continue reading.
Since ‘power’ is such a broad word, it has many definitions. To expand your view, here’s a simple compilation of its various descriptions:
* official authority, capacity or right
* ability to act or produce an effect
* one having such power
* of, relating to, or utilizing strength
* a source or means of supplying energy
* the time rate at which energy is emitted or transferred
* the product itself
* mental or moral efficacy
* to move with great speed or force
* to give impetus to
* to supply with power and especially motive power
* an order of angels (plural)
Viewing power from this list of basic definitions, we can begin to see it in a more neutral, if not positive, light. Using these impressions, let’s revisit the idea of true Power, reaffirm its value and briefly explore ways we can reconnect with it.
