But we have been slowly growing up to the point where we are now maturing into a stage where we are educated and empowered. We can now take responsibility as adults and organize amongst ourselves to address problems that our hierarchical system of command and control are not addressing very well. This requires voluntary cooperation, which means we choose to serve what we love. I call this organizing principle the power of love.
It’s not that the old organizing principle is useless: far from it, it’s very powerful, but that it is limited and doesn’t harness the best of human creativity.
The Global Heart Awakens is a beautiful weaving of three essential questions: Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? So let’s start with the first question, Who are we?
If we don’t know who we are as a species, we don’t know what we’re here for. As I studied history I saw that people defined themselves in different ways according to their mythology. In our prehistory, we were infants in the primal garden, later we were slaves to capricious gods, serving them as masters. In much of the Christian era we regarded ourselves as sinners seeking redemption. In the Industrial Revolution, we were cogs in the machine. Today the media calls us Consumers, and we are consuming our world at a dangerous rate. We are now evolving a new identity as parents of the future, co-creators of reality, shapers of evolution, gods in training. We are evolutionaries, and sometimes I use the word co-hearts, meaning we are working together, from the heart.
