Anodea Judith – The Global Heart Awakens
To see that we are the most incredibly capable species to have appeared on the evolutionary scene, is to have a value for who we are. To see that we are only in our adolescence is to give us perspective, that we have not yet seen what we can become.
In the section about the Long Journey Home, or Where do we come from?, you cover a broad expanse of human history. Why is this understanding necessary at this time?
Well, sometimes I call this section, “How did we get into this mess?” For when we’re destroying our environment on the very brink of our birth to a new era, we have to ask what is making us behave so irrationally.
As a former psychotherapist, I counseled a lot of people in crisis. They were lost, scared, wounded, confused. They didn’t know who they were or where they were going. I had to help mitigate the crisis, but in order to really heal, they had to dig into their past in order to move forward. They had to regain lost parts of themselves, heal old wounds, come to understand why they made the choices and developed the behaviors that got them into the crisis in the first place.
With humanity facing crisis on a global scale, we must examine the values and assumptions and operating systems that got us here. As the environment is threatened on every front possible, we have to ask what led us to a belief system of devaluing nature. Where masculine values are dominant and the feminine repress, we have to ask, what happened to make it that way? Like a client who needs to examine the programming he got from his mother and father, brothers and sisters, we need to understand what happened with our archetypal Mother and Father, and see how we’ve been raised by distant single father with no recollection that we ever had a mother.
