Lisa Garr: Becoming Aware
OMTimes: What did you learn from writing this beautiful and inspiring book Lisa?
Lisa Garr: First of all, I’ve learned so much about myself. Writing a book is your calling card for saying: “Hey, this is how I am showing up in the world. This is who I authentically am.” Every time I have a moment that is disconnected during my day, I go back to that like: “Hey, you wrote a book on awareness lady, you are not allowed right now to have this moment.” I catch myself more and more. It’s work in progress for me and it’s a beautiful journey of where I am not aware in my life. I am the journey.
OMTimes: What does Love mean to you?
Lisa Garr: Last night I watched the movie ‘The Giver’. It’s about the society that has taken out the emotion of love, through this injection they take every day. The entire movie is about the giver giving to the receiver the emotion of love again.
If you can imagine a world without love, it would be a completely flat, dark, numbed-out world. Love adds color, adds texture, it adds complexity, it adds contrast, it adds beauty, it adds connection. Love is the thread of every single thing that we do. It’s a motivator and a detacher. If I could rename my book, it would be called Love. Love is the basis of awareness.
