Trusting the Journey for the Answer

Have you ever felt lost or confused and knew it was time to make a big decision or change something fundamental in your life? Trusting that we made the right decision can be difficult. Making decisions doesn’t necessarily come naturally to everyone—after all, we live in a world where it’s easy to get someone else to make them for us.

Think back to a time when you sensed a need to make a change in your life. It could have been a change in employment, residence, or a relationship. Even though you knew the need for change was coming, you may not have had a clear picture of what to do. If you’re like many people, you probably said to yourself: “If I knew what to do, I’d get right to making the changes I need to make. But I don’t know!”

Throughout my career, I’ve often come across people who will jump from one psychic reading to another with the hopes of receiving intuitive advice that gives them a precise answer with guaranteed protection of making the wrong choices. Sadly, I don’t advocate this as the best method.

It’s okay to not always have an answer exactly when you feel you need it. Unless you’re in a very time-sensitive situation, make peace with living in the answer.

John’s Lessons

The next time you’re feeling like you need to make a change but not sure which direction to follow, try this:

If you have a vague idea of two directions that you might want to explore, imagine where those choices will take you. For example, close your eyes and imagine you’re standing on a road and there are two paths in front of you. One path leads toward one choice, the other towards another option.

What do those individual paths look like? Is one bright and green with vibrant greenery, trees, and flowers? How does the other appear? Is it similar to the other option or does it look like rocky and challenging terrain? Make note of anything you see and feel.

If you feel that you still can’t make a decision (and it isn’t just because you fear change), ask the universe for guidance. Then let it go. Remain open to considering what may come your way.

You may be surprised by the answers that come over time, like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle: A volunteer opportunity that eventually leads to your dream job. Maybe a friend who offers to lend you a book because they felt a nudge that you needed it; or a conversation in the grocery line that you just know you were meant to overhear.

Ultimately, when you don’t know what to do, that in itself could be the answer. Uncertainty may simply mean that you need more information or the circumstances aren’t quite right yet. Relax, and give it up to the universe, trusting that the answer will come.
