Natural Cleanse: 4 Earth-Friendly Hygiene Products You Should Be Using

Many people may think hygiene has to be forfeited when using earth-friendly products. This myth simply isn’t true. Eco-Friendly hygiene products are often just as, if not more effective than standard products. Earth-Friendly products are usually free of many chemicals that can harm both the environment and your body. Making the switch to more sustainable hygiene products will lessen your exposure to dangerous chemicals and help keep the planet clean.

Earth-Friendly Hygiene Products #1 – Brush Your Teeth

Plastic is particularly dangerous to the environment because it is unable to break down. Most of us use our toothbrushes for a few weeks, and once they begin to get old, we simply throw them away. The plastic in the toothbrush is not biodegradable, so it won’t break down. Millions of people worldwide throw away toothbrushes each day. This can lead to pounds and pounds of plastic waste each year. Instead of buying a plastic toothbrush, look for toothbrushes made out of recycled materials. Some companies offer mail-back programs. The mail-back program allows you to send back your used recycled toothbrush to be recycled again.

Earth-Friendly Hygiene Products #2 – Toilet Paper

Manufacturing toilet paper is an extremely energy intensive process. As surprising as it may sound, the United States Department of Energy ranks toilet paper manufacturing as the fifth most energy costing industry. The production of this product results in large emissions of greenhouse gases, which weakens the ozone layer. The manufacturing of the paper also produces dioxins as a byproduct. Dioxins can build up in the environment and cause health problems. Look for toilet paper made of recycled content the next time you go shopping.

Earth-Friendly Hygiene Products #3 – Shampoo

Instead of purchasing several small plastic bottles of shampoo, try buying in bulk. Purchasing a large bottle of shampoo from eco- friendly companies lessen the amount of plastic waste. Some companies, such as Top 10 Jungle, know how much better all-natural hygiene products can be for the environment.  They are also a lot better for the body, mind, and spirit. The shampoo is not just shampoo, not any crappy brand will do.  You must be shrewd and picky about the products you buy. If you care about your health, that is. Transdermal absorption is a serious matter, chemicals are soaked into your pores, and they go directly to your bloodstream and are taken all around the body.  Because of this, consumers should know to buy higher quality products that are as natural as possible.

Earth-Friendly Hygiene Products #4 – Bath Accessories

The process of making bath rugs and towels can release dangerous chemicals and bleaching agents into the environment. So many industries do not care about the environment and the few that do make great products for their loyal customers. The only way to change this is to bankrupt the bad companies and support the good ones by purchasing their products instead.  Replacing your old towels and rugs with eco-friendly products is sure to lead to a cleaner planet.
