Holistic Cold Remedies

Snowboarding, snow shoeing, skating, snuffles and sniffles. T’is the season of joyous winter wonderland fun and also that of “the cold”. Colds are very common this time of year but don’t worry, I’m going to share with you some natural remedies that will strengthen your immune system and work with your body to get you back to your happy, healthy self.

1. Herbal Blend of Reishi Mushroom, Astragalus root and Comfrey root. Put equal amounts each herb into a glass jar. (Keep this in the cupboard or somewhere dark). Add 1 tbsp. of the herbal mix to 2 cups of water, cover and boil for 15 minutes. As needed.

2. Essential oils: Black spruce, lavender, and juniper berry. Apply 3 drops of each into an infuser, relax, breathing in the healing vapors.

3. Aconitum napellus 30ch– this is a homeopathic remedy for 1st stage colds. They keynote symptoms for this remedy are:

-symptoms arose after exposure to dry, cold weather

-sudden onset, high spiked fever (this is a healthy response)

-person is alert, and restless

-raw sore throat

-dry, sudden cough

Take 1 pellet under the tongue, continue once an hour, stop treatment as soon as you experience any relief. More is not better with homeopathy. The remedy is energetic and has triggered your body to do the work, there is no need to continue dosing. (Follow this protocol for all homeopathic remedies)

4. Camphora 30ch– is another homeopathic remedy also used to treat 1st stage colds. The keynote symptom for this remedy is that the person is very chilly but will want to be uncovered.

5. Belladonna 30ch– this homeopathic remedy is used to treat 1st stage colds with the following keynote symptoms:

-short, sharp cough. It may be very painful.

-sudden onset

-dialted pupils

-delerious

6. Essential oils: spearmint, peppermint, black spruce, eucalyptus. Apply 1 drop of each to large bowl, Add in bowling water. Cover your head and the bowl with a towel. Remain here for 10 minutes. Be very cautious with your eyes, keep them closed.
