The Evolution of the Soul
A Conversation With Eric Thorton

Recently I ran into an old friend I hadn’t seen for years. She was positively vibrant, filled with excitement as she told me about her healing sessions with a man named Eric Thorton. After working with Eric, she was experiencing tremendous improvement in her serious and chronic health conditions. Because she had suffered for years, these improvements were nothing short of a miracle. I immediately wanted to learn more about this Master Spiritual Healer and Medium, and later was very pleased when he agreed to this exclusive interview.

In his first book, Educating the Soul – Spiritual Healing and Our Eternal Psychology®, Eric Thornton tells his personal story, from being a young boy who did not understand his gifts, to eventually using them in adulthood for the benefit of others’ physical and emotional healing. As our interview began, I asked Eric what a Master Spiritual Healer is, and how a person becomes one. Eric explained that being a Master is a function of the soul’s progression. The ensuing discussion led to a fascinating look at the evolution of the soul and the levels of spiritual mastery that one reaches along its own unique path of learning.
Eric: “The human spirit is a spark of what we call God wanting to experience itself, its creation. It comes in to an animal (or body) somewhere in the universe. The soul is that spark of God and all of the things that spark has experienced in its lifetimes.
OMtimes: “So when you’re talking about the ‘animal’, are you referring to the human body?”
Eric: “Yes, the human body, or other bodies in the universe. This is not the only little blue marble in the universe! The soul starts experiencing, wants to experience. If this body dies, it comes back into another and gains yet more experience and knowledge. When that spark of God first comes into a body, it is innocent, it has less experience. These first lives the ‘lives of a brave’. These are the younger souls. They typically accept the points of view of other people around them as well as the prevailing religious and political points of view — all without question. They can become ‘radicals’. As the soul matures and moves down a timeline, it is gaining more experience. The depth and the character of the individual increases.”
OMtimes: “So one’s depth and character increase? Are you referring to emotional depth?”
Eric: “Emotional depth – that’s exactly right. Someone who is a new soul is right there on the surface. They take everything at face value. If that’s what someone told them and it works for them, then that’s the way it is, and they’re willing to die for it. There are lots of braves, and they’re all along the pathway of experiencing, moving along this timeline of sorts. Lifetime after lifetime they are gaining wisdom and knowledge about the way this creation works. About the middle of this timeline is what I call the ‘point of mastery’. As the soul is approaching this point of mastery during its ‘lives’, it naturally starts to question the culture, politics, religions and demographics. These souls are usually not experienced enough to change their view, as they just question what they were taught. This shifting of perspective can mean that they don’t quite fit. These can be rough lives compared to the earlier lives where everything was black and white, right or wrong.”
