30 Days to a New You Day 25

Challenge Yourself to Practice Non-Attachment to the Outcome Remember that each individual will have their own perception of an experience. It is next to impossible to alter someone’s perception. As I have mentioned previously, in circumstances that you don’t see “eye-to-eye,” simply listen and then practice non-attachment to the outcome. This means that you are recognizing what you have heard, but you are not allowing another individual’s perception to influence your own.
Another example would be when someone asks for your advice or opinion, and they don’t like what you have said. Acknowledge the variance of opinions, and then release it. There is no need to feed it any energy or wonder if you should have said it differently. Both of you are having your own human life experience, which involves your own perception and freewill.
Speaking your truth with love and conviction is necessary. Do not be afraid to do so simply because you are not sure how the message will be received. As the receiver of a message, I encourage you to not take things personally as well. The sender of the message may mean one thing and you perceive it to be something else. Go through the entire range of emotions you are feeling. Now, step back and observe. Ask yourself, why do I feel this way? What part of me is causing me to react in this manner? Then, choose to observe the message differently or even ask the sender exactly what they meant.
