Marlise:           This month’s SOS Practice, Your Pain Can Lead to Your Passion was inspired by Mary Murphy who overcame many challenges to become an international award winning dancer and a celebrated judge on So You Think You Can Dance. How did the process work for you?

Tarlach:           I was looking at what my pain is, and my current pain is that I was adopted. I’ve had an attitude about it my whole life that shapes the fact that I ran away, and that I took drugs. I’ve always had a sort of resentment, which led to my anger against my mother.

And basically I got that I’ve had the wrong attitude about this my whole life.  And I’ve turned it around – and I’m looking at it in a completely new way.  And, for me, it’s like liberation.  It’s like, wow.”

Marlise:           Can you feel that shift in how you have new behavior now because you’re not responding in the way you might have in the past?
