Being Inspired and Conscious Inspiration

I firmly believe there are two things that motivate people, one being inspired and the other being desperation. There are times when people are in pain, or they are hurting so much that they are forced to do something out of desperation. By the same token, some people realize that change is often instigated by conscious inspiration.

If you are struggling to find conscious inspiration in your life, I urge you not to give up. Seize the moment and go out and find it. I find the smallest thing can give me inspiration. I even get my inspiration in the strangest of places. I might see a child playing or overhear a conversation at the supermarket. It can also be as simple as a line from a movie or TV show, which just resonates and acts as a catalyst to inspire me to take action. For me, this often happens when I am just daydreaming. You know–those times when you are not really paying attention to anything in particular. You never know when inspiration is going to come knocking at your door!

I was getting the urge from my intuition and soul that it was time for me to register finally for oil painting classes. I start tomorrow! Many times I would say: “I have to get really back to my artwork.” However, life does have a way of trying to stop you, or the timing does not feel right. This time, I could not ignore my soul’s promptings because the thought kept coming into my mind, over and over again. That was my signal that I need this! Plus, I am so looking forward to meeting all the other students.

Try to be around people who inspire, challenge, and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone. After all, these people are likely to give you the strength and courage to reach further than you’ve attempted to reach before, and to aspire to be more than you thought possible. You really notice this when you work with like-minded people, as it is so much easier to blend and resonate with each other, not just mentally or intellectually, but with your heart and soul. When you are inspired, it fills you with a sense of confidence and purpose. Conscious inspiration is a powerful force and provides a natural source of energy that will motivate you to push yourself further. These are the times when a goal or desire is actually within your reach.

In contrast, if you’ve been suffering from boredom, feeling listless and tired, or just not caring about anything or anyone, then more than likely you are feeling a sense of desperation to change something in your life. This is where conscious inspiration can be a catalyst for change. First and foremost, try to find something that inspires you. Be daring. Challenge yourself. Try something new and scary that pushes you outside your comfort zone. It could even be something you always wanted to try but never had the nerve or the time to do.

Inspiration is not solely linked to success. Some years ago, I took motorcycle-driving lessons and, although I did not pass, it gave me a feeling of accomplishment to be able to say: “I did that!” I’d always wanted to drive a motorbike and had romantic visions of racing around the country lanes, and even though I failed the test, at least, I tried.

By comparison, years ago I took scuba diving lessons, something I’d always wanted to do. Yes, this time, I did get my certificate, and that day will remain in my heart and soul for the rest of my life. I remember the invigorating feeling as I nervously strapped on my air tanks and took my first plunge into the ocean, and was able to marvel at the spectacular underwater world that God created. I often draw on this memory as inspiration, and it is helped me through some tough times when I’ve felt I needed that extra boost.

John’s Lesson

Find what motivates you whether its, music, dancing, singing, drawing, or even getting back to nature. No matter what it is, you’ll know it when you find it! Give yourself the opportunity to change, to make your life better, to make even more of who you really are. When you feel inspired and that inspiration fills you with positive energy, you’ll realize that you can change. When I am nervous about doing something, I just tell myself “I can do this!” Everyone is different. Focus on what you love doing and before long, your soul will start to sing out and help you reach your full potential.
