About the Guests Sister Judy Bisignano and Sandra Morse
Sister Judy Bisignano, a Dominican nun, is a fierce educator, and in so many ways a rebel. SISTER JAGUAR’S JOURNEY (both the film and the book) tells the story of her difficult childhood, and her attempt to avoid family life, marriage and motherhood by entering the convent, where she was met with an even more abusive situation. Ever the survivor, she worked with children and founded two alternative schools. Yet when the school she started for the Mexican-American community was closed, she was forced to confront the devastating affects of her lifelong anger. Sandra Morse, her friend and mentor, asks Sister Judy to go with her to the rainforest of Ecuador and participate in the sacred rituals of the Achuar people. It was here in this moment, in this place, with these special people, that she found God, healing and forgiveness.
Sandra Morse is a communications philosopher with a private practice in Tucson, Arizona. Simply stated, she shows people how to listen! Sandra will soon be guiding her 15th eco-retreat to the Amazon jungle. There, visitors from the North immerse themselves in the ecology of the rainforest and the spirituality of the Achuar people. Participants return home with a new perspective of their place on the planet and in the universe.
